Qualities of a good applicant

• You must be able to tell about your competences face-to-face, in written applications and in social meda (linkedIn)

• Professionally written cv with emphasis of key competences for lifelong learning

• Recommendations from earlier jobs• In Finland it is very important to be punctual

and come to appointments in time.

Traineeships

• A good way to be hired by a company is to start as a trainee, sometimes even without salary (students) in order to get a good work certificate.

• The students may have grants for traineeships, also teachers.

Demonstration of skills

• In Finland, in vocational education and training, every student must include at least 20 credits (about 6 months) on-the-job learning in the qualification and demonstrate the competence by completing real tasks in real work processes.

• The students receive an official certificate consisting of two parts

Certificate in VET

• 1 vocational upper secondary certificate• Certificate of demonstration of skills

• The latter describes the real tasks the students have demonstrated in real work situations like a work certificate, with the names of companies where the demonstration took place
