Why should I flip ?

Flipping lets you be in more than one place at once. You deliver lessons via video and get more time to spend with students in class.

Build stronger student-teacher relationships.

• Create a collaborative learning environment in your classroom.

• Allow students to rewind and replay your lectures.

• Teach the way you want—choose your own balance of lessons and activities.

What do I need?

Let’s flip one lesson.

• Download Snagit to begin recording your screen. www.techsmith.com/Snagit

• What do you want to show students in this lesson? You can record anything on your computer screen—slides, notes, a webpage, Blackboard, Moodle, or take a picture of a page in your textbook.

• Open the content for your lesson. Hide anything on your screen you don’t want included in your video.

• Since you’ll be recording your voice, sit in a quiet place without much background noise.

How do I start?

• Open Snagit and click the red capture button.

• Press the camcorder icon to Capture Video. Use the crosshairs to select the area to record.

• Press the microphone icon to turn on the microphone. It will turn green and you will see the bars move when you talk. Most computers already have a built-in microphone you will use automatically.

• You’re ready! Press the red Rec button and wait for the countdown. Start your lesson. Talk as if your students are in front of you.

• When you’re done, press Stop. You can play back your video, if you like.

• You’re ready to share. Click the Share tab. You can upload your video for free to YouTube, Screencast.com, or Google Drive. You can make it so only your students can see your video.

• Now, email the link to your students or upload it to your class website.

• Your students will tell you how much they love watching lessons from their own devices (laptop, smartphone, etc) and then come to class prepared to do hands-on activities.
