For field name go to T.Code : SE16 Enter table name : MARC, press enter key there you can see the fields for MARC. If required you can also have this fields names in T. Code: SE11 also.

Hi,
Yes, you can use MM17 to flag the deletion indicator at either client level (MARAtable) or plant level (MARC table).

Do I understand you correctly that an update via MM17 transaction is not a goodpractice as it updates directly tables?

MM17 is perfectly safe to use provided you ensure your selection criteria is doneproperly but as stated above you need to update table MARC for the plant level andthen MARA if they are to be deleted completely ie. they will no longer be used in anyother plant.
Please also remember that flagging the material for deletion does not stop it beingconsidered in the MRP run or being planned and available for sale. It is a warningmessage only so if you want to stop the material being used you need to update thetable MVKE in MM17 for the Distribution Chantel specific status for example to "01"discontinued without replacement with an effectivity date and you will also need tochange the MRP type to ND for no planning.
You should also do a where used on the materials using CS15 to ensure that none ofthe materials that use the components (if its components you are working with) arestill active for sale otherwise you run the risk of taking orders for finished goods wherethe parts are not being planned and could end up stopping your customer which ofcourse would be a disaster.
