Start synchronizing the consistency group. Check RLP (reserved LUN po ol in both arrays to check their capacity , if it is full or almost to be full then add more RLP (thick or traditional LUNs)). Note: You must expand both the primary and secondary images of a mirror to the same size. If the LUN you wish to expand is participating in a MirrorView session, and it is in the synchronizing state, you must wait for the LUN to finish synchronizing before you expand it.  Product: CLARiiON AX Series, CLARiiON, CLARiiON CX3 Ultrascale Series, CLARiiON CX Series, CLARiiON CX4 Series, MirrorView, Unisphere for VNX, VNX/VNXe Family, VNX1 Series  External Source: Primus  Primus/Webto p solution ID: emc318255

Summary:

Goal: How can I expand a LUN which is part of MirrorView?

Issue: Expanded a LUN and cannot see new size from host.LUN size is selected at current capacity not the maximum capacity and it is grayed out .

Active MirrorView session were running on this LUN

Environment: Product: CLARiiONProduct: VNX Series

EMC SW: MirrorView

Cause: You can expand a LUN which is part of a mirror, but you will not see the new space or be able to select the new capacityuntil the mirror has been removed, the server is able to see the new space and the mirror recreated.

Resolution: Perform the following steps:Remove LUN from the Consistency Group if it is part of it (right click and select properties then scroll the mirror to the leftside).Delete secondary image.Destroy the mirror in the Mirror view session.Refresh the page.

Expanded Source LUN with capacity needed.Make sure the host operating system can utilize the added capacity.Move to secondary array and do the expansion of the secondary LUN so it is the same size as the source.Recreate the mirror with the expanded LUNs which will now require a full synchronization of the mirror.Create Mirror view again by selecting source LUN >remote mirror>create.Name remote mirror.Right click on Mirror > Add secondary image LUN.Add this remote mirror to consistency group (right click on the consistency group and move the remote mirror to the rightside) and select apply.Start synchronizing the consistency group.Check RLP (reserved LUN pool in both arrays to check their capacity , if it is full or almost to be full then add more RLP(thick or traditional LUNs)).Note: You must expand both the primary and secondary images of a mirror to the same size. If the LUN you wish toexpand is participating in a MirrorView session, and it is in the synchronizing state, you must wait for the LUN to finishsynchronizing before you expand it.
