  • 1. Contents Web Host Reviews are Biased................................................................................. 3 The Best Shared WordPress Hosts ......................................................................... 4 VPS and Dedicated Servers are Overkill ................................................................. 4 How to choose a web host....................................................................................... 5 Disclaimer ................................................................................................................ 7 Paul spent weeks trying to find information on which web host to use for his WordPress website. At the time he was using a web host that wasnt meeting his needs in regards to support and some other techie issues. So Paul went off searching on the web for web host companies that could meet his needs, but every company he investigatedthat seemed would be a good fit. He became irritated all over again. Heres why

2. Paul started to get really frustrated because all the web hosts he foundall seemed to have bad reviews. He was losing hope. I recently saw the film Man of Steel. In my opinion it was damn good film. It was full of action, suspense and science fiction. The cinematography was well done and the special effects totally took the film to a whole new level. But before I rented the film from Redbox, I did a little research (just a little) on the film to see what other people were saying about it, and believe it or not there were more negative reviews than there were positive ones. Needless to say, I took my chances, rented the film and enjoyed it. People vent when things dont go there way Here is the hard hitting fact: people will most of the time write reviews based on their own experience (especially when it was bad). Thats just the way we humans are wired To escape the sea of biased bad reviews, do some diligent research and look at the services that different web hosts offer like: WordPress one click installs Live chat support 24 hour support by phone So dont discard a web host just because of bad reviews. 3. You will probably come across or already have advice from people in different forums, comments on websites and Facebook groups on which web host is the best. Well, Im not going to give you any advice on what the best WordPress host is. In fact, I am not even going to recommend any. The truth is that there is no best web host. They dont exist. Let me tell you why. To imply that a company is the best would mean that they have no flaws and that theyre perfect, but as you know there is no thing that is perfect in life. There will always be flaws with systems, people the whole lot. Thats just the way it is. Having your website on a shared hosting server, means that you are sharing resources with 200 300 other websites, but before you freak out at those numbers this is not such a big deal, especially when youre just starting out online with you small business or internet marketing website. The really good hosting companies that offer shared hosting as a service usually have top notch resources, serversand so on. So they are prepared to handle that amount. But when your website or someone else who is on the same server starts to get really big, generating a lot of traffic, then the host will insist that you or they upgrade to a different server package. This would be an upgrade to either a VPS or Dedicated server. I am not going to spend any time on the subject of VPS and Dedicated servers, because it will only confuse you even more. All you need to know about these 2 is that 4. they are designed for handling large amounts of web traffic and are usually optimized for speed. The only thing that is of the most important for you right now iswhich web host company to use. When youre in the cereal aisle at the store you are overwhelmed with choices of which brand of frosted flakes you want to buy. There is a slight difference in taste with each brand, but for the most part they all taste the same. But what would be the one thing that sets one of these cereal brands apart? But first lets look at what they all have in common: Gluten free Low calories Low sugar More fiber Okay, cool. Now we see what they all have in common. Lets see what that one brandbrand X that the other brands dont have: A transformer toy (bumble bee to be exact) 5. This is a huge difference from the other brands because this is the first thing the kids will see and naturally the parents will then choose brand x. However, when it comes to choosing a web host, you cant use the exact comparison method because you dont really know what sets one apart from the other. People can only tell you from their own experiences. But others personal experience is not enough. For the most part you have to go through the experience for yourself. Lets say you have 4 web hosts to choose from, and they all offer the following: Reasonable price 24 hour support Server space Same WordPress one-click install There is nothing there that gives you any indication of which one is the better choice for you. So how the heck do you decide? What I am about to tell you, is something that other professionals wouldnt dare to. But the fact is this. Just choose one. Yep! I bet that was a shock for you huh? You have to understand something here before you start throwing rocks at me, okay? I already mentioned earlier on that there is not a web host that does not have its own set of problems. They all have their fair share. There are four web hosting companies I trust, because I dont make web host recommendations. I will just tell you what works for me and offer other web hosts that some of my trusted colleagues use. Here is the list below that could help narrow down your sometimes, never ending and frustrating search for the perfect web host, because now you know that they dont exist. However, below are the ones I trust: SiteGround Price: $9.95 per month (They usually run specials though, in which you will pay around $3.95 per month) DreamHost Price: $9.95 per month (They usually run specials though, in which you will pay around $3.95 per month) 6. site5 Price: $8.95 per month HostGator Price: $7.96 per month By the way if you are wondering which web host I use. I use HostGator right now, but will be moving to a dedicated server once my WordPress training website launches in August, 2014. I currently use HostGator as my host because their support is excellent for me and their servers hardly ever go down. That is a huge plus for me. The list of web hosts that I've provided pays me money when you click on their links and purchase service from any of them. However, I dont promote anything I dont believe works or have not used myself. PS If you find yourself stuck while trying to install WordPress on your new web host server. Then swing by the OMG WordPress Fix hangout and I'll help you out. Cheers!
