How to Draw a BunnyYou will need: “How to draw a bunny” handout Pencil and eraser Sharpie marker Watercolor paints, brush and water 12” x 18” watercolor paper

Instructions: Follow the steps on the handout to draw your bunny rabbit. Try to think of everything as a basic shape (or parts of shapes), for example the body is like a triangle with the top not showing and the corners rounded.

Draw lightly so you can erase later if you need to.

After the bunny is drawn in pencil the way you want it, then outline it with a black permanent marker (if you are painting). Be sure if you want to add anything on your rabbit like a jacket, or a basket of eggs, etc., that you do so in pencil before you outline in marker.

Now you can paint you bunny however you want to. Make it your own--use fun colors, this doesn’t have to look like a real bunny--it’s art, enjoy it and use your imagination!

Notes: Please note that the material list is simply a suggestion based on what was used for the example shown. You could draw your bunny on any size paper and you could color it with crayons, markers or colored pencils if watercolor paint (or any kind of paint) was not an option.

Use scrap paper and practice drawing your bunny before you work on the 12” x 18” large paper if you’d like to!

The final rabbit will be in proportion to the size you draw the “U” shape for the head. If you draw the “U” very large the entire bunny will not fit on the paper. If you draw it very small the bunny will be very small. You will want to place the “U” slightly higher then the middle of the paper leaving room above for the ears. Again, draw very lightly for this step so you can erase it if you feel like it’s too small or too large.

Step #2:

Step #3:

How to Draw a Bunny

Draw a “U” shape for the head.

Draw the ears above the head connecting to the ends “U-shaded” head and think of them as two triangular shapes.

Draw the body of the bunny large enough to fill the paper leaving just small space for the feet. Think of a triangle that is missing the top and has rounded corners for this body shape.

Step #7:

Draw a larger oval/triangle shape on the body of the bunny as well as two smaller triangle shapes inside of the ears. If you would like to add patterns like polka dots or stripes in these spaces.

Now is the time to use your imagination and make this little bunny rabbit your own!

Is he wearing a little jacket? Does he have a carrot in his hand? Is he carrying a basket of eggs? What does the background look like?

You decide and add in any details you like!

Step #8: Add patterns like polka dots or stripes inside of the ears and on the body.

Once you have included everything your drawing that you want, outline it with permanent marker if you are painting. You can skip this step if you are using crayons or colored pencils (if you want to)!

Now color your rabbit using crayons, colored pencils or markers.

OR

Use watercolor, acrylic or tempera paint to finish your bunny!
