How to do Picture in Picture using the Camtasia Plug-in within
PowerPoint 2013 By Alexander Palazzo and Scott Badger
1. In the Task List, select Record PowerPoint.
2. Microsoft PowerPoint® opens. Open a PowerPoint presentation to record.
3. Select the recording options from the PowerPoint Add-in Toolbar.
4. To record voice narration, enable Record Audio Record Audio button.
5. To record camera video (Picture-in-Picture), enable Record Camera. Record Camera
button.
6. To preview the camera stream while recording, enable Camera Preview. Camera
Preview button. (Note: Turn off before you start the recording)
7. Click Camtasia Studio recording options Recording Options button to change the
settings.
8. Click the Record button Record button.
9. The presentation opens in presentation mode. A Camtasia Studio dialog opens in the
lower right corner of the screen. Click the Click to begin recording button.

12. To stop the recording when you’re done with the last slide, press <ESC>. To stop the
recording at the end of the presentation, click Stop recording.
13. Enter a file name and location and click Save. The presentation recording saves as a
Camtasia Studio recording file (.camrec).
14. Select “Edit your recording”
15. Click Ok.
16. The recording will open up in Camtasia. Use the default editing dimensions.

17. Click Ok.
18. Move the video window to the location where you want it the video to show up in the final
publish video. You need to click on the video window so that only the video window is being
selected. You should only see the resize (hollow circles) around the video window. (Note: The
video window will be displaying a black background by default. If you preview the recording, you
will see what your computer’s camera recording in that video window.)

19. (Optional) You can resize the video window by dragging one of the corner resize handles either
diagonally right (make smaller) or diagonally left (make larger)
20. Make sure that the starting marker is at the beginning of the timeline.

21. To preview the recording, press the play button within the Preview panel.
22. Save the Camtasia project. (File > Save project as)

23. Click the down arrow to the right of Produce and share and then select Produce and share.
24. Select Custom production settings.

25. Select MP4.
26. Click Next.
27. Click Next
28. (Optional) On the Video Options page, you can turn on “Include watermark” and then select
your watermark image.
29. Click Next.

30. On the Marker Options page, you can rename the title of any of the slides.
31. Turn on “Number marker entries” and Table of contents initially visible” which are below the
Table of contents section.

32. (Optional) Click the Preview button to view the video with the current marker options that
you’ve selected.
33. Click Next.

34. On the Produce Video page, name your file below the Output file Production name.
35. Select a location where you want to store your finalized video file.
36. Click Finished.
