What is digital citizenship?Defined as the responsible use of technology by anyone who uses computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society on any level.
Internet Safety
Don’ts of Cyber Safety
1. Do not give out personal information such as your address, your telephone number, or your parents’ telephone number without my parents’ permission.
2. Do not give out your passwords to anyone other than your parents(even your best friend).
3. Do not to respond to any messages that are mean or that in any way make you feel uncomfortable. It is not your fault if you get a message like that.
Do’s of Cyber Safety
1. Do ask questions if you are confused or unsure about how to responsibly use a device.
2. Do follow your families’ rules about usage of your device.
3. Do keep your computer in a common area where parents are readily available to help if a situation occurs.
4. Do engage with online classes including teachers and peers.
Helpful Online Practices
Understand that posts are permanent. ○ Act as though what you are about to post
will be screenshotted and shared with anyone.
Double check it before you wreck it.○ Always double check the reasoning behind
the post.○ Ask yourself: Is this necessary? Am I
helping someone? Will this make the situation worse? Is this my responsibility? Will this damage my reputation?

With good online practices comes an understanding of digital citizenship.
Virtual Meeting Etiquette
Sign-on Checklist
1. Gather necessary materials for your class BEFORE logging into the meeting
2. Pull up Zoom application3. Turn on camera4. Join audio, then Mute audio5. Wait for instruction6. Use “Participants” tab to raise hand, signal you need a
break, reply “yes” or “no” to questions being asked*7. Use the Chat box when asked to or when necessary
*Teachers will explain their preferred method of participation,
and it can change depending on the class.
How to Zoom with Success● Create a workspace that works for you and
your family. ○ Find a space quiet enough to focus and keep
it consistent○ Give yourself space
● Limit distractions○ When we’re distracted, we miss instruction
and fall behind. ○ Limit amount of movement in the background
● Comply to the dress code○ The dress code in school is the same as
online school ○ No one wants to see that!
● Give yourself a break!○ Communicate your needs○ Teachers will understand your need for a break
● Practice presenting yourself in your classes as though it were a job interview○ Many companies before COVID-19 were already utilizing virtual
meetings as a way to conduct job interviews for people all around the world.
○ This time of online learning provides great practice for you to develop the skills necessary to succeed in your future.
How to Zoom with Success
● Organize, organize, organize○ Keep all your assignments organized by subject○ Use Google Calendar with Google Classroom○ Write questions down in your notebook so you won’t
forget to ask teachers during their designated office hours
● Establish a daily routine and post it somewhere○ Keep it consistent, keep it simple ○ Try using Google Calendar for everything ○ Or using a planner to store due dates, questions,

Self citizenship Keeping yourself healthy (mentally and physically) to be a better citizen for yourself, family, friends, teachers, and others.
Tips on how to stay healthy:● Mentally separate from school when time is your day is
done ○ Do something that make you laugh every day and that
gets your body moving ● Limit screen time after a full day of school
○ Too much screen time can result in headaches, fatigue, sleep deprivation, and back pain.
