The new Affinity Dicer is the largest dicer Urschel manufactures. The machine specializes in the output of maximum capacity and the cutting of difficult-to-cut products such as candied fruits, cheese, soft meats, cold temperature applications, or products with high fat content. The machine accepts a large infeed product size of up to 10" (254 mm) in largest single product dimension. All transitional components work with the cutting elements to maintain positive advancement of the product throughout the cutting process - this is critical in difficult-to-cut applications. The rotating feed drum and feed roll are especially key in maintaining consistent, positive feeding into the dicing elements. Driven by a 25 HP gear motor with heavy duty gears and belts and equipped with a 5 HP VFD (variable frequency drive) motor on the crosscut, the Affinity excels at delivering maximum capacities. The 5 HP VFD motor allows significant savings by changing speeds instead of purchasing additional crosscut spindles. For ultimate sanitation, stainless steel contact surfaces on all components are polished to an Ra 32 finish. The Affinity delivers precise dices on products such as dried/candied fruits, bread/croutons, cheese, beef/chicken logs, pepperoni, ham, and salami.
The Affinity is manufactured in two different models — standard (shown above) and with a built-in conveyor. The built-in conveyor model offers a built-in conveyor feed chute to optimize feeding. The Affinity accepts a wide range of infeed products in different shapes and sizes. The standard Affinity accepts product infeed up to 7" (178 mm) maximum. The Affinity with conveyor feed chute accepts maximum infeed of blocks up to 7" (178 mm) or up to 10" (254 mm) maximum in largest single dimension depending on the product.

The Comitrol® Processor is widely used throughout the world as an effective solution for a multitude of dry, paste, and liquid size reduction applications. Several different models are available to accommodate different applications. Comitrol Processors vary in feed/discharge configurations, cutting head and impeller options, and horsepower. Every model features continuous operation for high capacity throughputs and simple cleanup. Standard operations include: granulating, flaking, slicing, milling, shredding, liquefying, pureeing, and dispersing.
The word “Comitrol” means controlled comminution. Comminution is the process of reducing something to a smaller size. The Comitrol uses the principle of incremental shear; the product is efficiently and uniformly reduced gradually as it continues to rotate and pass through a stationary reduction head.
MOdEL 1700 [ 1 ]The Comitrol® Processor Model 1700 is the most versatile machine in the Comitrol line. Model 1700’s wide range of applications include peanut butter, coconut for cream or shreds, cereal products, bread crumbs/flakes, corn masa, granulated toppings/coat-ings, biscuit/cookie rework, various nuts, and fruits for fillings, pastes, sauces, juices, and more.
The Model 1700 accommodates all three types of 6" (152.4 mm) diame-ter reduction heads — cutting heads, slicing heads, and microcut heads. The standard two-piece enclosure simplifies disassembly and clean-ing. Optional parts available assist processors in creating a sealed en-closure to deter escape of dust, va-por, and liquid when installed with a collection system. Maximum infeed dimension varies depending on the type of head and impeller used.
tYPeS OF cutS• Variety of 6" cutting heads offer
sizes from about .010 up to 1.5" (.254 up to 38.1 mm)
• Variety of 6" Slicing heads offer thicknesses from about .020 up to .060" (.5 up to 1.5 mm)
• Variety of 6" Microcut heads offer the smallest particle sizes from about .0012 up to .0237" (.03 up to .6 mm)
MOdEL 3600 [ 2 ]The compact size of the Comitrol Processor Model 3600 makes it ide-al for small volume to high capacity production and is universally accept-ed for difficult rework applications. Bakery products high in fat and moisture, fruits with high sugar con-tent, and other products are cleanly cut into precise, free-flowing gran-ulations at high capacities. Rework pretzels, pastas, pastries, cookies, granola, sandwich crackers/cookies, and many others.
The Model 3600 accommodates 6" (152.4 mm) diameter cutting heads. Maximum product infeed is 2.5" (63.5 mm) in any dimension.
tYPeS OF cutSVariety of 6" cutting heads offer sizes from approximately .010 up to 1.5" (.254 up to 38.1 mm).
The Model 3600 is also available with a suitable feeder, man-ufactured and installed by a third party.
MOdEL 9300 [ 3 ]The Comitrol Processor Model 9300 is the largest in the Comitrol series. The machine is designed for one-pass particle size reduction when the final product will be a slurry, paste, liquid, or powder.
The large machine also features a larger 12" (304.8 mm) microcut head and impeller, twice the size of micro-cut head assemblies found on the Model 1700. This makes it possible to achieve smaller particle sizes with greater efficiency.
By using as much as 200 HP (149 kW), much larger throughputs are possible. Standard soft start gradually powers up the machine by creating a reduced inrush current allowing more efficient utility management. Maxi-mum product infeed is 3/8" (9.5 mm)
tYPeS OF cutSVariety of 12" Microcut heads. Approximate size range from mi-cro-dimensions up to .0420" (1.1 mm).
