I have found that patterned borders look pretty impressive on a photo. You can create this in very simple steps in photoshop. Here is a tutorial. (Photoshop CS3 has been used, but you can use the version you have for this) 1. Open Photoshop, go to the file menu and click open the image you want add border to. I am here using my son’s photo for example.

How to create patterned borders on an image in Photoshop

One of the impressive ways to develop the photo is to create borders around it. I have found that patterned borders look pretty impressive on a photo. You can create this in very simple steps in photoshop. Here is a tutorial. (Photoshop CS3 has been used, but you can use the version you have for this)

1. Open Photoshop, go to the file menu and click open the image you want add border to. I am here using my son’s photo for example.

2. Choose the crop tool and select the photo in such a way that the selection borders lie outside the image as shown below

3. Crop the image. It will now look like this:

4. Hit ctrl+ j to duplicate the layer. After duplicating it, you can use move tool to adjust the photograph within frames if you so want.

5. Selecting the duplicate layer, click on rectangular marquee tool and select the image. You will see marching ants around the image. Remember, only image should be selected and not the borders as shown below

6. Having selected the image, hit ctrl + j to duplicate the layer.

7. Choose pattern stamp tool from dialog box. You can find it nested with clone tool.

7. Select any suitable pattern from the pattern window in upper horizontal toolbar.8. Adjust the brush size and start painting the borders to give image a cool look. 9. Don’t forget to use SHIFT KEY while drawing straight line using pattern brush.10. Final image will look like this. Cool, isn’t it?

11. In order to save the photo, go to layer>flatten image12. Go to file menu or use ctrl + S to save it to the hard disk.
