How  to  create  a  website  on  wordpress.com  (By  Kawtar  Chellaoui)  

 1.  Go  to  wordpress.com  website  2.  Click  on  create  a  website    

   3.  Choose  a  name  for  your  website  (site  address)  Example:  ilovetaiji.wordpress.com    

 4.  Click  on  “create  your  site  and  continue”  button    5.    Enter  your  email  address;  choose  a  user  name,  and  a  password  

 6.  Click  on  next  step    7.  Skip  the  next  page  by  clicking  on  “No  Thanks”  button.

 8.  Choose  a  theme  (how  you  want  your  website  background  look  like)  by  clicking  on  it.  NB:  you  can  always  go  back  and  change  the  theme  any  time  you  want    

   9.  Choose  a  plan  for  your  website    

 10.  Click  on  the  free  for  life  plan  by  clicking  on  “select  free”  button    

   

Congratulations!  You  have  just  created  your  website  in  wordpress.com  Now  you  need  to  verify  your  email  address  so  that  you  can  publish  your  posts!  Open  your  email  from  wordpress.com  and  click  on  activate  account.

(A  post  named  “Hello  world”  will  be  automatically  created.  You  can  keep  it,  delete  it  or  change  its  content”)  

11.  Start  your  first  post  by  clicking  on  “start  a  post”  button    12.  Enter  a  title  for  your  first  post  and  then  write  your  post    13.  Click  on  publish    (if  you  modify  again  you  need  to  click  on  update)  

NB:  if  you  don’t  want  your  post  anymore  you  can  send  it  to  trash        

   14.  Click  on  preview  to  see  how  your  post  looks  on  your  website!  (You  can  always  edit  it  if  you  still  want  to  make  changes  by  clicking  on  the  edit  button)    More  options    To  modify  and  manage  your  website,  create  pages  and  add  other  options,  you  need  to  click  on  “my  

site”  on  the  top  left  corner  of  your  screen.

To  add  a  new  page,  click  on  posts  and  pages.  Next,  click  on  pages    and  then  on  

“add”      Enter  the  page  name  on  the  title  area  ex:  Sports    (this  will  be  a  button  that  will  lead  you  to  the  page  about  Sports)  

   

To  add  media  in  your  page  (ex.  pictures  or  videos),  click  on  add  media    Drop  your  pictures  or  files  anywhere  to  upload    If  it  is  a  video  from  a  website  such  as  YouTube,  click  on  insert  media,  and  then  choose  insert  from  URL

 Then insert the URL address you have by copying it from the original website ex: youtube.com

 

   

• Once  you  copy  your  URL,  click  on   button  and  then  click  on  the  publish  button

 when  you  are  done  with  you  page.    

• Click  on  preview  to  view  your  new  page  about  “sports”      

• You  can  always  edit  it  or  delete  it  whenever  you  want.    

• Please  take  your  time  exploring  all  the  options  that  wordpress.com  offers.  The  above  are  just  the  basic  steps.  Please  try  to  integrate  more  options  as  you  learn  on  your  pace  all  the  option  out  there!    

 Assignment    You  can  create  as  many  pages  as  you  want  (min  4  pages  are  required).  The  pages  should  reflect  who  you  are,  so  don’t  hesitate  to  create  any  pages  you  want!      PS:  keep  in  mind,  that  at  least  one  page  should  be  dedicated  to  the  music  genres  from  your  previous  assignment  (Presentation  about  Music)      Have  fun!  J
