Create a Photo Story
NOTE: If you do not have Photo Story Installed, you can download it for free from the Internet by clicking on the
following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=92755126-a008-49b3-b3f4-
6f33852af9c1
After the installation is complete, follow the instructions below:
a. Launch Photo Story 3 for Windows by clicking on the “Start” Button; and then
b. Clicking on “All Programs,” and then clicking on “Photo Story 3 for Windows”
c. Click on the default radio button “Begin a new story” to start a new project.

Note: “Edit a project,” and “Play a story” radio buttons are optional for already completed projects.
d. Click on “Import Pictures” and browse to the pictures that you wish to insert into your photo story. Click
“Next” after each of the pictures for your story has been inserted.
NOTE: At this point you can edit and/or rotate your pictures if needed.
e. You can insert titles for your photos, add effects, and perform other customizations to enhance your
photo story. Click “Next” after customizing your story to suit your needs.

f. You can narrate your story by adding a voice overlay. You can add background music. You can also add
transitions to each slide by utilizing the “Customize Motion” option.
g. Click on “Save Project” to save your photo story to the desired location such as a USB Flash Drive. After
saving your project click “Next.”

h. After saving your photo story, click on option “Save your story for playback on your computer,” then
click “Next.”

i. Click on radio button “View your story” to verify that your photo story executes as you have intended.

Upload a Photo Story to BlackBoard
1. Launch Picasa
Note: If you do not have Picasa installed, you can download it free by clicking the following link:

bk&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=picasa
After the installation is complete, follow the instructions below:
a. Click the “Start” Button. Click “All Programs.” Click “Picasa 3”

b. View of Picasa when launched:
c. Click on “File” and then choose “Add File To Picasa.”
d. Browse to your PhotoStory, and add it to Picasa.
Note: Do not use the Photo Story Project but the actual Photo Story Video file, denoted by a “wmv” suffix.
The file name will be “filename.wmv,” where filename is the name you gave to your Photo Story.
e. At this point if you do not have a “Gmail” Account, please open one by clicking on the link below:

f. You are now ready to upload your Photo Story to BlackBoard.
2. Open Picasa.

a. At the top right corner of the dialog box click “Sign in to Web Albums,” and then log in using
your Gmail Account Credentials.
b. Click on your Photo Story to select it, and then click on the “Share” button.
c. Enter your email address (GatorMail, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) in the “To” field box, and
then click on the “Send” button.

Note: Your Photo Story is now being uploaded to Picasa. Once the process completes you will
receive an email at the designated email where you chose to send the Photo Story.
d. Open your email and click on the
message that was sent to you by
Picasa. You will see the link. Copy
the link, log into BlackBoard, and
then paste that link into the
BlackBoard “Create Message”
dialog box. The message can then
be submitted to your instructor
and to your classmates.
