How to configure LPR via Hikvision cameras

1 Mounting Rules

The main rules for mounting:

1) LP width should be not less than 130 pix on frame

2) Vertical angle should be less than 30 degree;

3) Horizontal angle should be less than 30 degree;

4) LP angle should be less than 5 degree in both side.

And according to our experience, the vehicle is usually about 20 meters away from the

camera in the moment of being captured.

2 ANPR Installation

2.1 Prerequisites

1 HIVISION Camera mandatory

2 MicroSD Card 4 G or above mandatory

3 Distribution package “anpr_install.tgz” mandatory

4 Open Platform

The ANPR application requires MicroSD card with free space 4G or above. The SD card

has to be formatted as FAT on PC and distribution package (anpr_install.tgz) should be

placed onto root directory of file system. The MicroSD card should be in place when

rest of steps are executing.

CAUTION! Don’t remove SD card when camera is operating! It may cause damage of

file system and you will lose information on the card.

2.2 Installation Step

Connect to camera via any appropriate WEB browser (Chrome is recommended, the

ANPR page can be supported by Chrome only) and login to camera using the

appropriate administrative account.

Step1

Upgrade the firmware to the v5.2.6 (S2 platform) or v5.2.0 (8127 platform).

Then Default the device and install/update the web component via web interface.

The camera has to be connected to local network and a public IP address is necessary.

Then go to Open Platform->Application option. In case if you don’t see the Open

Platform option please check that your browser has Java Script is enabled and local

plug-in execution is enabled too.

Step2

Choose the Browse button and select the app file from your PC, click Import.

Then you will see the successful message, the app will display in the below table. Click

on the application and press Start button.

You can start and stop application any time as you need via this page.

Note: If failed to start the app file, please logout and reset the cache of bowser and

login again.

Step3

Please logout, reset the cache of browser and login again. The new page named

“ANPR” appears. This page contains control and visual elements for driving ANPR

application.

3 ANPR Configuration

3.1 Important Parameters Description and Configuration

1. LprUseCase: 0 for EU, 1 for Russia

2. Not Capture ROI: “checked” (recommend) for storing only the little picture of license

() while “unchecked” for the picture of license plates and ROI picture.

3. Confidence Threshold: 0.600000 is recommended.

4. Exposure time: it should be set to 1/1000, regardless of day or night.

5. BLC: OFF; WDR: OFF;

6. Password

The password of admin in the following ANPR page should be wtfey13;

The password of camera can be set to 12345 by default.

3.2 Remote Recording Configuration

In sake of saving the video clip more accurately, users need to configure the record

schedule via ivms-4200 or NVRs. Please see the detailed configuration below.

3.2.1 Recording on ivms-4200

Add the device into the 4200 software first and then go to Remote Config interface.

Go to Event->Schedule to do the record configuration as follows.

3.2.2 Recording on NVRs

Add the camera in to NVRs first and then go to the Camera Settings Interface.

Click Camera Settings->Schedule settings and do the record configuration as follows.

3.3 Exporting Result

If users want to export the plate info, please go to the ANPR interface. Both event log

and the video clip can be exported.

4 FAQ

1. Why the status of SD cards is “uninitiallized”?

The SD card is used for LPR specially, so the status on the web interface will be

“uninitiallized”. Then video clips cannot be recorded on SD card.

2. Why I cannot see the Configuration->Open Platform->ANPR page.

Please check as the following steps:

a) Please choose Chrome rather than other web browsers;

b) Make sure the status in following page is “start”;

c) Close the web page, and clean all the history in Chrome, then reopen the web

page.

3. Why does the app file failed to start?

If failed to start the app file, please logout and reset the cache of bowser and login

again.
