Filling out the Statement of Purpose

Look over the 3rd nine weeks curriculum maps and consider possible topics for your students.

Carefully look over the CCSS booklets you have received and think about which standards can be addressed through your project ideas. As a High School Teacher you must choose one or two College and Career-Ready Writing Anchor Standards or College and Career-Ready Speaking and Listening Anchor Standards to address through the projects this year. The simplest way to choose would be from the ThinkShow! MCS Letter to Teachers located on the “Resources Page”.

I recommend the following standards from the letter as they are broad and can easily fit your project with a well tailored research question:

College and Career-Ready Writing Anchor Standards (Page 3 - )

6. Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others.

7. Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects based on focused questions, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.

2. Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally.

5. Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations.

6. Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and communicative tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate.

After you make your decision on the Common Core State Standard the projects will address. Indicate it on the ThinkShow! Project Statement of Purpose in the appropriate space provided.

Now, its time to come up with a Research Question or Questions the projects will explore and/or answer. Then indicate it on the Project Statement of Purpose.

The next step is to share more details of the project by explaining how the students have/will demonstrated their understanding of the Common Core State Standard and how it relates to your research question and include it on the Project Statement of Purpose.

The other information is pretty self explanatory, but if you need me to, I’ll be glad to go over it. Just give me a call at extension 67001.

Finally, placing your order. On the form there are already supplies listed from the School Specialty Catalog. All you have to do is enter the quantity and calculate the total and return it with your Project Statement of Purpose.

If you need additional supplies that are not listed, I would encourage your to use the Resources Page of the HHS Website and check out the ThinkShow! Requisition Form. On page 4 of this form there are Catalog Covers that serve as links to School Specialty and SAX the only places we are ordering from at this time.

Should you need items not pre-listed on the order form, be sure to list all of the information required on the form unless otherwise noted by “N/A”.
