What is CBD ? CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the many plant-based chemical
compounds (phyto-cannabinoids) found in the cannabis flower, which
on ingestion binds with our body’s endo-cannabinoid system - a
system of receptors which is responsible for the regulation of various
bodily functions such as; mood, temperature, bone density, stress,
hunger and many other things.
Our endogenous cannabinoid system or Endocannabinoid system
(ECS), is a biological system comprised of endocannabinoids and
cannabinoid receptors throughout our body. The term endocannabi-
noid denotes to any cannabinoid that is produced by our own body.
Alongside its infamous cousin THC (tetrahydrocannabidiol), CBD is one
of two most prevalent cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
Phytocannabinoids such as THC, CBD, CBC and CBN bind to the ECS
receptors or stimulate the release of our own endocannabinoids. These
all affect the ECS in different ways, including the treatment of nausea,
insomnia, epilepsy and bacteria.
Here at Prosperity, we are bound by a passion for
cannabis derived natural treatment and a shared
enthusiasm for its blossoming potential, though we
recognise the concerns that you may have in decid-
ing to use a new treatment method– especially one
with such bad press, albeit unjustified! Because of
this, we’ve put together and introduction to CBD that
you can trust, one which cultivates the facts and
trims away at the fiction.

There are two primary receptors within the
endocannabinoid system, CB1 receptors and
CB2 receptors. These determine the users’
behavioural effects when stimulated by a
cannabinoid; CB1 receptors are found
primarily in the central nervous system,
whereas CB2 receptors are more
commonly found in fatty tissue.

The oldest record of cannabis found. Traces of THC were found within wooden braziers in western China. Studies suggest it may have been linked to ritual or religious activities.
Cannabis is included in the Athhrava Veda as one of the 5 sacred plants of Hinduism.
Therapeutic use of cannabis was introduced to the western world by William O’Shaughnessy. He had a breakthrough when he significantly reduced symptoms of tetanus and rabies with a sativa extract.
Herodotus writes of a Scythian funeral ceremony where cannabis seeds were ceremoniously burned in order to achieve euphoric effect.
One of the active ingredients in cannabis, THC was first synthesized by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam.
The Marijuana Tax Act is enacted, even with backlash from the American Medical Association, ending the use as cannabis as medicine. (Big money talks)
CB1 cannabinoid receptor is identified by Allyn Howlette and William Devane.
Israel approved the supply of cannabis for medical and research purposes.
Canada’s health minister announced that they will roll out new legislation that will keep marijuana out of the hand of children and criminals. (recreational legalisation)
Avicenna, a renowned physician published ‘Avicenna’s Cannon of medicine’ in which he stated, cannabis was effective for treating gout, edema, infectious wounds and severe headaches.
Hua T’o, the founder of Chinese surgery, uses a mixture of cannabis and wine to act as anaesthesia for his patients.
Dosage Guide Humans
How to calculate MG per drop
Like with any medicine, it is essential to make sure you are administering the correct dosage of CBD. Since each individual user differs physiologically, has their own specific requirements and unique symptoms, dosing CBD is entire-
ly predicated upon the user’s own needs. Realistically, there are a multitude of variables which may assist you in selecting an appropriate dose, notably; height, weight, the sensitivity of your endocannabinoids system, and the mode of consumption amongst many other things.
WEIGHT GROUP MILD EFFECTS MODERATE EFFECTS STRONG EFFECTS
(58kg or less) 11 mg or less 12-14 mg 15-17 mg
(58kg-104kg) 18 mg or less 19-23 mg 24-27 mg
(104kg +) 23 mg or less 24-30 mg 31-45 mg
Since everyone’s experience will differ somewhat from one another, it is advisable that new users should begin on a low dosage and gradually increase it until it aptly relieves their specific ailment - try increasing the amount of CBD you take every 3-4 weeks by 25mg until you attain symptom relief. The effects of CBD are not necessarily immediate, and depending on the tone of your endocannabinoids system, users may not notice a difference until prolonged or controlled habitual usage.

1. Total CBD MG in whole bottle divided by size of bottle.
2. Divide this by 20 ( number of metric drops per ml )
3. Your final number should be CBD mg per drop
Example: 500mg / 30ml = 16.6 16.6 / 20 = 0.83
500mg

What product suits me ? There are two main types of CBD oil product; full spectrum or isolate. Full spectrum CBD includes a wide array of naturally occurring cannabinoids, which includes up to 0.2% THC and naturally occurring flavourings named terpenes and flavonoids. If you would prefer a full spectrum oil, you shall benefit from the intake of a variety of beneficial plant-based cannabinoids (phytocannabindoids), as well as the plant terpenes found in the original hemp plant which add natural flavour, providing a much more natural, herbal experience.
Many CBD users say that full-spectrum CBD products are superior and
the particularly beneficial to your endocannabinoid system and overall health. In full spectrum products, the cannabinoids are present in their natural ratios, working in harmony with one another and of course, stimulating the secretion of your own endocannabinoids.
Alternatively, CBD Isolate is initially a full- spectrum product which has been isolated from the other cannabinoids, leaving behind a CBD concentrate. These products are cheaper per milligram and completely
flavourless, odourless and have no traces of THC or other Phytocannab-
inoids. This makes dosing easier and more accurate as you know exactly how much CBD you will be administering.

Application methods
The benefits of CBD are not solely reserved for humans, rather it has also proven beneficial for our pets and for our dogs in particular. Similar-ly, to its effects on people CBD can help dogs with epilepsy and seizures, it can reduce inflammation, pain and even protects the nervous system. Furthermore, CBD can help dogs with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and other gastrointestinal issues by maintaining healthy gut motility.
Relief is provided to our dogs by CBD through its interaction with the dog’s own endocannabinoid system ( see below ), which similarly to ours helps regulate things like pain, nausea and anxiety. However, unlike some veterinary medicine, medicinal cannabis derivatives have no life-threatening side effects like kidney or liver damage, and of course CBD won’t get the dog ‘high’!

Interestingly, CBD is an excellent alleviator of pain and anxiety for both humans and dogs, which for dogs in particular are two of the main causes of aggression. Through the reduction of its anxiety levels, CBD ingestion can significantly reduce a dog’s level of aggression, helping to keep both the dog and the owner calm and content! Similarly for us humans, it is difficult to correctly dose CBD for a dog as it is dependent on numerous factors, though once more it is most accurately predicted against the dog’s weight:
