Naturalisation as a British Citizen, also known as British Citizenship is the final and the most important part in the entire immigration process available to all applicants with permanent residency status or the “Indefinite Leave to Remain” or “ILR”.
To be eligible to apply for British Citizenship one must have spent a minimum of three to five years living and working in the UK depending on his/her current visa status.
What are the criteria for UK Citizenship?

You must be at least 18 years old;
Have been a resident in Britain for at least 3 years;

You have only been in Britain for three or more years you must:

Have held (ILR) and be married to a UK citizen;
Have not spent more than 270 days outside the UK in the last three years and no more than 90 days in the last 12 months;
The applicant must have passed in the Life at UK test;
The applicant must be able to speak English;
You may have been in Britain for five or more years you must:

Have held (ILR) and be married to a UK citizen;
Have had ILR in the UK for at least 12 months;
Have held a UK Marriage Visa or Unmarried Partner Visa (De Facto) for at least two years;
Have not spent more than 450 days outside the UK in the last five years and no more than 90 days in the last 12 months;
The applicant must be able to speak English;
