9. Trainer Endorsement Requirements

These requirements are Basic, Intermediate or Master Trainer. Registered trainers do not need to demonstrate these items.

1. Experience as a trainer can be validated by sending an itemized list. The list must contain the title, core content area(s), length of time, and date. You don’t need to recreate your entire history as a trainer – just a list that demonstrates the minimum requirement.

2. The Adult Learner Course requirement can be met with any courses that is at least 5 hours and where 80% of its content is specific to adult learning theories and practice. If you do not have a course that meets this requirement, you may take the Adult Learner Course which was specifically developed to meet this requirement. To find out when and where this course is offered, search our Satewide Training Calendar at https://www.the-registry.org/myregistry/

3. The Professional growth of another adult requirement can be met if you supervised student teachers, served as a mentor, etc. You can write a letter for your file to serve as documentation. This is required only for the Master trainer endorsement.

4. You will be asked to send verification for any training endorsement checked in your application.

There is also a requirement for experience providing training and experience working in a regulated childcare program. The amount of experience required will depend on your trainer type.

10. Types of Training

Registered TrainingThose who offer Registered trainings need to meet the requirement for trainers as defined by state licensing. That is to say the training can be offered by any person who feels they have knowledge of the topic. Registered training does not require that the attendance roster be submitted by the trainer but that is an option. Most often a training agency issues the ‘Certificate of Attendance’ accessed by clicking the link in the Event Detail page of the training. The Registry does not ‘approve’ the trainer for Registered trainings. Registered training is used to meet the continuing education hour requirement. Any organization that has indicated that they are a Training Sponsor Organization on their Registry account can use approved trainers or indicate any other trainer of their choice.

Tiered TrainingTiered training must have an Approved trainer that has been approved based on education level, experience and other qualifications. Registered trainers cannot provide Tiered training. A trainer approved to offer Tiered training must maintain a current Registry membership including renewal once a year. The training can be entered through the organization account or an approved trainer’s account. Additional details regarding content, goals and objectives are required. Accumulated Tiered training allows participants to progress on the Registry Career Levels. Tiered training is immediately verified when the trainer enters the roster and no additional documentation is required. The attendance roster is required to be entered either by the trainer or the organization. You can read more regarding training types on our website at: https://www.the-registry.org/PDAS/Trainers.aspx
