How to add a blog to Renewable Energy World
If you have been approved as a blogger on the Renewable Energy World website then skip to section two. If you would
like to blog for the Renewable Energy World website follow these instructions.
Section 1: Register for the site If you would like to be considered by the staff at Renewable Energy World you will need to register. To register go to
http://www.renewableenergyworld.com.
Click on the Register button at the top right of the website:
Fill out the form that you are presented with and click submit.
After you’ve registered use the credentials that you set up during registration to login to the website.
When you’ve successfully logged in click on the Edit Profile link in the top right hand side of the website and click on the
Request to Blog link.
This will take you to the request to blog page
Click on the Request to Blog button. This request will be received by the editorial staff at Renewable Energy World. The
access request will be address and approved or denied within one business day. Come back to the request page to see if
you’ve been approve. When you return to this page you will get one of two messages. You will either see the Pending
Request message of the Request Granted.
Section 2: Post a Blog After you’ve been approve as a blogger you can click on Edit profile link which will open the User Profile box and then
click on the Blog Posts link.
This will take to a page that will display any blogs you’ve have posted as well as the New Post button
Section 3: Posting a new blog After clicking the New Post you will be taken to the new blog post form.
By filling out the different fields in this form and clicking the Submit Entry button you will post new content directly to
Renewable Energy World website.
This is a description and rules for each field:
Title: In this field you should put the headline or title. While there is no technical limit to the length of the headline we
recommend it not be any longer than 110 characters with spaces
Primary Tag: Choose one or more additional tags that will help identify where this blog will be displayed on the website
Text Body: This section of the form is a WYSIWYG editor. You can type your blog or paste it in from any word processor
software. The controls will allow you to customize the display of your content.
Adding image to the body of your content requires you to host the images on a server that you have access to. When
you click on the Insert menu and select Insert/edit image or Insert/edit video you will be asked to enter a URL where the
image or video is available online.
You can add links to other content by highlighting the word or phrase that you would like to use as the link then
selecting the Insert menu and clicking on Insert/edit link option.
Status: This option allow you to make you content active as soon as you post it or leave as inactive essentially save it as a
draft until you can finalize the content. You can return to your blog at any time in the future and change this setting to
either make your content live or to take it off of the site. It is important to know that if you mark an article as inactive or
if you Deactivate an article the content will continue to display for you but not for others. This allows you to edit content
and mark as active at a later date.
Images: You can upload one image that would be displayed on the page where your blog will display but it will not
display inside the text of your content. This image will be the thumbnail image for your blog. Readers will be able to click
on the image to view it in a larger display.
Submit Entry: By clicking this button your content saved. The content will be sent to the live site if the Status is Active
and it will save a draft if the status is inactive.
Section 4: Editing an existing blog post If you find the need to edit an existing post you can do so by going back to the list of your posts. To do this click on Edit
Profile and then click Blog Posts
This will bring you to your blog listing page. At the bottom of the blog you will find an EDIT link.
When you click the Edit link you will be brought back to the entry form where you can change the blog content and
resubmit it. The changes will display in your live blog within 60 minutes.
