Introduction

This book is about a boy named Miguel, who has a sister named Juanita and two parents, both from the Dominican Republic. He and his family speak Spanish and English. He, his mother, and his sister move to Vermont, leaving their father behind in New York. Miguel is embarrassed by his aunt, Tia Lola, when she comes for a ‘visit’. In the end, he really likes Tia Lola and is happy to find out she will be staying with them.

CharactersCharacters

Miguel - The main character. We are alike because our parents live in different states.

Juanita - Miguel’s sister. We are alike because we are both show-offs.

Tia Lola - Miguel and Juanita’s aunt. I am like Tia Lola in the beginning because I only know one language.

Favorite Part

My favorite part was probably when Miguel, Juanita, and Tia Lola went to New York for a few days.
