How the media product represents particular social groups? Our thriller opening sequence fits into the’ mean girls’ social group, which are shown to be the best of friends. The reason we chose ‘mean girls’/ teenage girls as our social group our film shows two friends being friends and then one of them turns on the other girl as she starts dating a girl. This happens in mean girls and roommate, which is a similar situation. Here is an illustration of what the sort of social group it represented. It represents two best friends who did everything together loved to have a good social time to go to parties and go shopping. This is shown in our film until Natasha changes and turns her view on her best friend about going out with her ex. This is similar to the situation scene in the roommate when one of the characters turns into having mental issues. Our film appeals to teenage girls between the ages 15+ it represents a normal girl best friends social group, which you always find in school and colleges everywhere. This is something that females of this age find happen a lot. The girl gets with her best friends ex boyfriend. The two main characters in our opening sequence are Natasha and Charlie which are both female. They portray the typical best friend relationship, which we see, in the film roommate.

The characters that we show in our opening sequence are very stereotypical type of a young girl at college shown above. The horrid situation is what makes her strong and gives her strength to not depend on her best friend and not be so naive but to step up and save herself from getting hurt by her supposed best friend. This makes the audience think, as they aren’t expecting it to happen at all. This instantly creates a personality for the audience as Natasha is seen to be very self-centered, superior through our sequence.
