How Often Should I Get a Hearing Test? Can you relate to the following illustration about the importance of having a hearing test? Over the last six months, I’ve noticed that my sixty-four year old mother-in-law often misunderstands what I or my per- schooler says to her. At first I wasn’t very concerned since I am not fluent in her language. However I’ve recently realized that when her husband is around, he’ll understand us perfectly well and make the necessary correction, in a louder than normal tone, so that my message gets communicated. Now my husband has picked up on this because even when he speaks to her, in their native language, his mom will miss words or not hear complete sentences. It turns out that she’s long overdue for a hearing test and now needs to see a hearing specialist. She’s not alone; it’s estimated that over one-third of senior citizens have age-related hearing loss. We recommend that healthy people should get a hearing test annually to detect early hearing loss. People working in loud environments, or with a family history of hearing loss, should be tested more frequently. In most cases, the best solution for hearing loss is to get hearing devices to help maintain the current level of hearing. They are easy to use, affordable and will help the wearer to go about life as usual.

How Often Should I Get a Hearing Test?

Can you relate to the following

illustration about the importance of

having a hearing test?

Over the last six months, I’ve

noticed that my sixty-four year old

mother-in-law often

misunderstands what I or my per-

schooler says to her. At first I wasn’t very concerned since I am

not fluent in her language.

However I’ve recently realized that when her husband is around,

he’ll understand us perfectly well and make the necessary

correction, in a louder than normal tone, so that my message

gets communicated. Now my husband has picked up on this

because even when he speaks to her, in their native language,

his mom will miss words or not hear complete sentences. It turns

out that she’s long overdue for a hearing test and now needs to

see a hearing specialist. She’s not alone; it’s estimated that over

one-third of senior citizens have age-related hearing loss.

We recommend that healthy people should get a hearing test

annually to detect early hearing loss. People working in loud

environments, or with a family history of hearing loss, should be

tested more frequently. In most cases, the best solution for

hearing loss is to get hearing devices to help maintain the current

level of hearing. They are easy to use, affordable and will help

the wearer to go about life as usual.

Do you have a loved one with whom you’ve experienced a similar

situation as this illustration? If it’s been more than a year since

their last hearing test, they are due for one immediately. Contact

us today to schedule your next hearing test.
