How I came across the topic “Sleep deprivation.”

I decided to write on the topic sleep deprivation because I wanted to learn more information for myself because I began to encounter sleep deprivation a couple of weeks into my first year of college. I was not sure why I was getting no sleep but it was taking an impact on my GPA. My second semester of college, I was given the chance to be in an English class that gave

me the opportunity to pick a topic that I wanted to focus on for the rest of the semester. I thought to myself “The whole semester?! Is there even a topic that is that interesting to me??” Well after I juggled with a couple of topics I came upon the topic “Sleep Deprivation.” I was not sure this topic would be interesting enough to work with all semester. When I

wrote my first blog on my topic, all my doubts were vanished with positive feedback that said things like, “wow this is a interesting topic!” and “great topic!” Another reason why I was so excited to focus on this topic was because I came across many articles stated that the majority of people did not know the first thing about being sleep deprived. I also read that the age

Sleep DeprivationSleep Deprivation is when someone is having trouble getting sleep. I focused this article on college students because young adults seem to be the ones who are most likely sleep deprived. This was an important topic to me because not

College students are more likely to be sleep deprived. Why?Being a college student takes a lot of work. College consists of busy schedules, studying, homework, working, and lack of nutrition. Students that have a busy schedule throughout the day with classes and a job tend to stay up late to get work done they couldn’t get to during the day. While they are getting work done all night long, they are making it harder for their mind to concentrate during the day and pay attention in class because their bodies are exhausted from that “all-nighter” they had the night before. This is when the GPA drop comes in because students aren’t doing the best they can on a test, due to being sleep deprived. Students can begin missing classes and miss important lectures on information that will be on exams. As you can see being sleep deprived can take a great impact on a students grades, social life, and overall the most important thing, health. Many people don’t know the health issues

I focused this paper around the lives of college students because according to data and research, they are the victims who suffer the most sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation is a topic that is not taken into consideration by many college students. There were many articles that stated that a numerous amount of college students did not know the danger their health can be in, if they are not getting enough sleep. Being in college there are a lot of responsibilities that there is in school, like homework,

projects, and exams while having a job. That is where college students begin to loose sleep and depend on energy drinks and coffee to keep them up, and even some pills, to keep them going through the day. When your body doesn’t get sufficient sleep, your immune system becomes weak and you are more likely to get sick. Your brain also doesn’t function the way it should and your mentality becomes weak. Serious health issues begin to unravel like depression, anxiety, insomnia, and mental breakdowns. It is very important that students in college know

Purpose on why I focused on college students.
