Q2. List the types of information systems shown in the video. Can you describe how systems that were not shown might be used at FedEx?

• Information systems like Destination locators, Price tracking

Systems, Scanners, weight calculators are mainly used in this video.

Systems like identifying the type of product, flaw in the packaged

good, Using an own tracking gadget can be used this can reduce the

effort of tracking delivery to customer.

Q3. The system displayed in the video is an enterprise system. Why is this true? Explain your answer

• An enterprise system is an application software which are used in processing business,

information, tracking and analysis for large companies. This is true for fed ex as right from

receiving of good to delivery of good it follows a process of information systems like collecting

package from client and providing uniqure reference number to good, then shipping it to

Memphis world hub and over there scanning the package in all aspects and then shipping it

through jets to different countries and then delivery to client making use of unique number. The

whole process can be traced in systems through online by customer. The total process is

dependent upon the information systems hence it can be stated true that fed ex uses enterprise

system.

Q4. What are the risks and benefits of having a single Super Hub in Memphis coordinate the delivery of packages across the United States?

• Having a single super hub it can be acted as a centre for sorting all the

types of packages and goods and to process for sending it to desired

locations. It will be easy to employ the necessary changes or to

provide any necessary information quickly if there could be any delay

in the shipment of good. On the other hand if there is only super hub

it is difficult to maintain millions of packages due to increase in the

demand of fed ex courier services in day to day life

Page 6: How FedEx Works

Q5. How could FedEx's shipping process be made even more efficient?

• Shipping process of fed ex can be made better by having 4 to 5 super hubs

according to the regions. Due to this the packages of desired locations are sent

to respective hubs and there it is easy to process further for shipping. If the

package is weighed and tracked at the time of receiving it would be easy to

process for shipping because if product is scanned at super hub and declared as

flaw it takes much more time to return it to the customer back. These are the

few processes that can be implemented to make fed ex shipping more efficient.
