Today’s Agenda
● Who I Am
● Why Generate Data?
● How Edify Can Help
● Perspectives:o Student
o Parent
o Teacher
● Q & ANote: None of the data presented
in today webinar is actual student
data. It has been generated
specifically for this presentation.
Who Am I?
● Grand Rapids Christian High School
o Science Teacher
o XC & Track Assistant Coach
● I have recently become very interested
in learning how technology can
enhance and personalize my students
learning.
Why Generate Data?
● Allows the STUDENT to specifically
identify what they don’t know.
● Allows the PARENT to help guide their
child’s learning.
● Allows the TEACHER to Personalize the
learning for each of their students.
How Edify Can Help
● All assessment items are tagged with
standards.o Assessment items can be used for pre-
tests, lesson (formative) assessments,
and summative post-assessments.
o Data is reported in real time.
o Teachers can filter reports by student,
class, assessment, standard, etc.
How Edify Can Help
● Resources are also tagged with standardso Resources for students are automatically
selected based on their performance. Called Recommended Resources
o Students, Parents and Teachers can all
see these recommended resources.
o These resources can be used for very
specific studying, reinforcement,
remediation, etc.
The Student’s Perspective
● Data allows the Student to specifically
identify what they know and what they
don’t know.o Studying can be simplified by focusing on
the standards that have not been mastered.
o “Recommended Resources” provide specific
practice to help master a standard.
o No more guessing about what to study!
The Parent’s Perspective
● Data allows the Parent to help guide
their child without guessing what has
been taught.o Parent and student can have meaningful
discussions about the student’s
performance and how to improve.
o Parent can easily help to guide their
child by pointing out areas (standards) of
weakness.
The Teacher’s Perspective
● Data allows the Teacher to Identifyo A class that already knows it (pre-test)
o A class that still doesn’t know it (before
or after a post-test)
o Students who already know it (pre-test)
o Students who still don’t know it (before
or after a post-test)
o Improvement/Progress
o Poor test questions (Item Analysis)
