Question 2. How does your media product represent particular

social groups?

Page 2: how does your media product represent particular social groups

PhotographsOne of the ways that my media product represents different social groups is

by the images that i have used in all 3 parts of my magazine ( front cover, contents and double page spread). This is because of the clothing that Alex Macdonald has on, on my front cover and double page spread.

This photograph is on my front cover. The reason why people may be attracted to my magazine is because if his cloths as people my relate to this magazine as they wear similar cloths. This jacket is something somebody would wear when they are interested in indie music as its a type of fashion.

This image is on my contents page and its from V festival a very popular festival from summer which occurs each year. This will relate to the younger and indie audience as they will have either been or be interested going.

This picture is featured in my contents page. this Barbour jacket is very fashionable at the minute in the indie social group so that’s why i’ve decided to add this photo in my magazine because people who listen to indie music can look and relate.

The cloths on this band member are also very fashionable as most bands (kooks, kings of Leon and Keane) all wear similar cloths. I think that its important to relate to the target audience with clothing because its an easy but professional way to show the readers what type of genre the magazine is.

This amp is featured in my contents page. In my opinion I think that it looks really vintage and would fit in with an indie bands instrument set.

These shoes that Alex MacDonald has got on are very indie and fashionable at the moment. This helps because this image is huge and its on my double page spread so they will hopefully stand out and grab the readers attention to being fashionable.

Another way that i have attracted my target audience is by putting this guitar in the image. This helps because as soon as a fan of guitars looks at this image they will automatically be attracted to my magazine.

Language

This banner at the top of my magazine stands out to my target audience because all of the artists are indie . This would make my target audience interested as these are all bets selling artist of 2012.

Another part of the language I’ve used says “Biffys best ink” this is slang talk and appeals to a younger target audience as mine is 16-30’s this helps a lot. This also may interest indie fans that are also interested in tattoos or maybe somebody or has a tattoo them self!

“The killers smash the o2” this language is obviously language that a young person would use to their friends and its also very informal.

By the way the word chat is used this implies that its a young person magazine because you would never se this on a formal news paper.

By creating pages that are linked to festivals implies that my magazine is meant for a younger target audience as the majority of festivals are full of young people.
