How do you have a good presenting voice? I started doing SQL tutorials on youtube but my voice over doesn’t sound good. ~~~ Your question doesn’t elaborate on how you are doing your voice overs. When it comes to voice, some people have voices that are pleasant to listen to. Some have voices that elicit a response in us like when somebody runs their finger nails down a chalkboard. In your question, you don’t tell us how or why your voice doesn’t sound good. At the risk of telling you something you may already know, when anybody listens to their voice on a recording device, it sounds differently than what we hear when we speak. When we speak, our voice is being filtered through our sinuses and our skull. What is heard on a recording is likely more accurate to anybody else listening to you. When it comes to speaking and how it sounds, we have to take into consideration rate, pitch pace and volume. When you are doing a tutorial using YouTube as an example, you want to have a conversation with your audience while sharing the info with them. This requires creating a script. The challenge of course is that you want to deliver the material and making it sound conversational at the same time you are reading it. As well, at the same time you are illustrating on screen capture specific items of interest. So there is a lot of multi-task going on. If you have the skill to make videos and voice overs, you may want to consider this tactic. If you are using your webcam to record video and your onboard sound card to record the audio, the audio may not be as good quality as the video.

How do you have a good presenting voice?

I started doing SQL tutorials on youtube but my voice over doesn’t sound good.

~~~
Your question doesn’t elaborate on how you are doing your voice overs.
When it comes to voice, some people have voices that are pleasant to listen to. Some have voices that elicit a response in us like when somebody runs their finger nails down a chalkboard.
In your question, you don’t tell us how or why your voice doesn’t sound good.
At the risk of telling you something you may already know, when anybody listens to their voice on a recording device, it sounds differently than what we hear when we speak. When we speak, our voice is being filtered through our sinuses and our skull. What is heard on a recording is likely more accurate to anybody else listening to you.
When it comes to speaking and how it sounds, we have to take into consideration rate, pitch pace and volume.
When you are doing a tutorial using YouTube as an example, you want to have a conversation with your audience while sharing the info with them. This requires creating a script. The challenge of course is that you want to deliver the material and making it sound conversational at the same time you are reading it. As well, at the same time you are illustrating on screen capture specific items of interest. So there is a lot of multi-task going on.
If you have the skill to make videos and voice overs, you may want to consider this tactic. If you are using your webcam to record video and your onboard sound card to record the audio, the audio may not be as good quality as the video.
A work around for this is to use a smart phone as a secondary recording device. There are apps that you can get that do a really good job of recording your voice. So what you do is start recording your video with sound and start the smart phone at the same time. Upon completion you download the audio tract from your smart phone to your computer. Then in a video editing program you replace the sound track with the one from your smart phone. It can take a while to get it to fit perfectly but it does a good job.
If your voice sounds too high or low, there are inexpensive audio editing programs that can change your tone to something more appealing. You can also edit out any extraneous noise from the room that you were recording in that you wouldn’t likely be able to do in regular video editing software.
Your smart phone voice recording app also allows you to practice your script before you actually record live for the video.
