As Delaney and Cheyanne Plott, Danny Lee, Tyler Calder, Michael Richards and James Glover cheer, Wyatt Miller waves the Patriot flag at the football game against Millard North. STUDENT LIFE.Style. What does it mean to you? Is it simply the way people dress? Or is it more than that?

Students have many ways of DEFINING their style. Is it rushing to outlet mall to update your wardrobe? Is it getting your first tattoo? Is it thrift shopping for a unique homecoming dress? Is it the music you listen to?Is it the activities you do outside of school that DEFINE YOU?

All of this and more define a person’s style. Style is having the confidence to be yourself and not care what everyone else is wearing. This is inside of school and out.

Find what you love & OWN IT.

Sound undergroundIn his basement recording studio, junior Garrison (Gage) Hanson plays guitar and prepares to record an original acoustic alternative song. He worked with junior Jocelyn Muham-mad every day to “help each other grow and get better,” Hanson said. He released hand-made copies of his mu-sic “so each copy is special in its own way,” he said. SPORTS.Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Focus. There’s nothing to lose. Patriots stand TOGETHER, win or lose. It’s about defending your school and never giving up thefight.

Ourathletesfindstrengthineachother. They go away to summer camp or arrive at 5 a.m. to lift as the rest of us are still sound asleep. They have a determination to be the best.

All the endless practices and pasta feeds are worth it. Beingfirst, havingthewholeschoolCHEER you on, going to state, and watching the banners drop at pep rallies—it’s the ultimate goal.

Open your eyes. The crowd is cheering. You did it. You’ve defended the Patriot name once again.

Find your strength & STAND.

Net worthWatching the ball skim the net, senior Michael Goehring prepares to return in a match against Millard North. He played singles for the Varsity team. ORGANIZATIONS.All of us have a PURPOSE in this world. It can be big or small, but the little things you do to help out everyday really do make a difference.

Maybe you volunteer at local community shelters. Or spend time at the Soup Kitchens. Maybe you even walk your elderly neighbor’s dogs.

Take a step farther, and you find yourself volunteering at hospitals. Or donating blankets and mittens to the homeless. Maybe even bell ringing to raise money for the Salvation Army. Or maybe you help on a social level. Talking to students with issues as a peer mediator. Showing new kids around the school. Sitting with strangers at lunch. Making peoples days better by giving them a friend.

Regardless of what it is you do, it is VALUED and you will never go without a feeling of gratitude for those you’ve helped make a difference in their lives.

Find YOURSELF in action.

Shout outDuring the Millard Days Parade, freshmen Emmalee Bielenbert and Andrew O’Brien, sophomore Mara Bullock and freshman Alyssa Soppe march in the percussion line. Soppe had taken piano lessons since first grade, and in elementary had the option to join band, so she did. “My favorite part of band,” she said, “is having fun at all the contests.” Photo by Adam Harner/edited with artistic filter

ACADEMICS.Tests. Quizzes. Finals. Those words still give us nightmares. But guess what we made it. We stayed focused and made it through another year. So how did you stay MOTIVATED to do the work?

Was it study dates in coffee shops? Or just the thought of weekends with friends?Did you have a certain song you listened to before a big test? Was it simply the satisfaction of getting an A on a project you stayed up all night to finish?

The house of sleep lost making yourself a better functioning member of society in the eyes of your teachers. Was it their praise? Or just the thought of a better FUTURE that kept you going?

No matter how you got here, you did. Smile. Breathe. You made it this far.

Find your strength & STUDY.Just clean funWorking with soap on a lab table, sophomore Andrew Goff makes a giant bubble. Michael Edmundson’s Chemistry class had finished an experiment and Goff was cleaning up. “I was just messing around cleaning the table,” Goff said, “and having fun.” Photo by Dari-Ann Ritonya/edited with artistic filter

PEOPLE.How do you find yourself?

Is it your past that helps define your future? Do you look to your family for clues to your past? Do memories of playground games and friends help shape who you are today? Or do you work to forget the PAST? Is it doing homework on the DECA bus ride to Milwaukee or the Softball trip to Bellevue West that helps to outline the type of student you are?Is it working toward a high score of 200 in Flappy Bird that gives you bragging rights? Is it getting the night off from work for Prom that helps you know who YOU are?

All of this and more can help define you, one who refuses to be defined and keeps rediscovering who you are as you grow through life.

Find your best & BECOME

Wrapped upHuddled together, freshmen Caleb Witcher and Emily Fowler try to escape the cold weather. A meatball started on fire in the cafeteria, causing the fire alarm to sound, so the whole school was evacuated on February 4. “It was snowing, and a lot of kids were freaking out about how cold it was,” Fowler said. “We got the blanket from Mrs. Baker,” Witcher said. “It was cold outside.” Photo by Paige McClannan/edited with artistic filter

SENIOR TRIBUTES.Think back to when you were five years old. Eyes bright and ready to take on the world. What did you want to be when you GRADUATED? Doctor. Astronaut. Dancer. Police Officer. Firefighter. Actress. Beauty Queen.

All of them are possible. Whatever you chose to do with your life from this point on is up to you. No one is telling you where to be or what to do. Its up to you now to find a place in this world.

Find your passion, travel the world, meet new people, invent a cure for a disease, be all those things you dreamed about as a kid.

Only this time, stop dreaming, make it happen. The world is YOURS now. So go for whatever you’ve been chasing, because no one is going to stop you from daydreaming anymore.

Stop dreaming & just DO IT.

On boardFor an unusual senior photo, Chase Zacharias wake boards at Lake Leba in Fremont. He often went to this lake with his friend senior Ryan Baumgart. “We were doing senior pictures at the lake,” Zacharias said, “and I thought I might as well do it in a suit.” Photo courtesy of Laura Espejo of Mirror Images/edited with artistic filter
