Thinking is the asset with humans only. In a day, we are making thousands of decisions. Sometimes

these decisions are perfect and sometimes may not be perfect. There is nothing like right and wrong

decisions. There is always right and wrong thinking. As thinking is the root to any decision.

We need to forget, to think

As professor Brabandere says person has to forget 99 % to think. Very strange but true. We have to

forget 99 percent of the information to think. Let us take example of movie, we all watch movie carefully

(depends on the movie). But we all have our own memory to recollect something from the movie. We

can remember song, dance, dialogue, actor, actress, action. It varies from person to person. When we

are discussing the movie , let me say more precisely when we are reviewing the movie we forget

everything and we analyze it on the base of various concepts like direction , story , performance of the

actor etc … So to do this review you need to develop Concepts .

What is concept?

Concept is the simplification of various information available to us. In the age of technology, we have

lot much information available on the internet, enterprising software, reports, and research projects and

lot many. If we are not developing the concept, we can’t think. To understand more on the concept let

us take example from the business world. For example in the chemical trading Industry, we have list of

800-1000 customers. It is impossible to think about 1000 customers at once. You have lot many dates

feuded in the SAP, Tally or any other enterprising software. But you can think of few customers at a

time. This is the simplification process. We divide our customers in to various segment (which is

concept or model actually) like Coating, Solvent, industrial Chemicals, Construction chemicals. This

simplification process helps us to focus on some part of customers and allow us to think on particular

product, competition for that segment. In nut shell, we are habituated to simplify the information

available with us and it is called as concept or model. Professor Brabandere also called it as boxes.

Synchronization between Model (what is within us) and

World of information (What is in front of us).

We can define thinking as something that happens between reality and your mind. We are always

synchronizing between facts, reality, data, information and our models. We can ask two questions to

understand this concept of synchronization.

1. An example of mobile is _________

2. Mobile is an example of _________

If we try to answer first question, answer could be Samsung, phone, Motorola etc. Very simple and quick

to our mind. Whereas if we want to answer second question, it could be talking machine. We find bit

delay to get the answer of second questions. Why does it happen? Because synchronization is different.

To answer first question, we move from concept to reality. And to answer second question, we move

from reality to concept. The first type of synchronization is called “DEDUCTION “and second type of

synchronization is called “INDUCTION”.
