How do the Freshmen

Feel?A survey conducted by

The Purpose

The purpose of our survey was to find

out how the freshmen feel about the new

graduation requirements for

their grade.

The PopulationThe population for our survey were the freshmen of

Juab High School.

The BiasWe chose to use leading

questions to lead the student being surveyed to give a

specific answer to the final question. Using this bias, we

were able to create two biased surveys; one survey in favor of

the new graduation requirements and one against

them.

Sampling Procedure

We got a list of all the freshman, assigned each

student a number between 001-177, used the

calculator to randomly select 15 students for each survey (skipping repeated numbers). We then took a

copy of the assigned survey to each student and

asked them to fill it out.

Non-ResponseSome of the issues we had with non-response were people that weren’t able to find and one person was no longer attending this school. We had two students from the unbiased survey, one from the biased in favor survey, and one from the biased against survey.

Conclusion & Analysis

The majority of freshman don’t care that they have increased graduation requirements. About 85% of freshman don’t care or like their new graduation requirements. Only about 15% of the freshman dislike the fact that they have different graduation requirements. Our bias didn’t work as we expected it to, but it could be due to the fact that the freshmen truly feel neutral on the subject.

Do it Again?

If we were to conduct this survey again we would do cluster sampling to make collecting the data easier.

We would also make the scale from 1 to 4 so that there is no neutral answer.

We would include more leading questions to obtain a better bias.
