Previously report card results from Prep indicate these students need extension and stimuli to remain interested and engaged within the subject matter. LEARNING DIFFICULTIES Within Mrs Urban’s Year 1 class there are several students who require assistance. One student has been diagnosed with dyslexia and another with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). These students are supported by a learning support teacher and are provided with differentiation pedagogy. Throughout this task students are stimulated and become hands on as they work together, move around and engage with each other to successfully create a campaign. With the encouragement and help of their peers; these students’ interests and involvement magnifies.

Behavioural Issues

At times, low ability students disrupt the classroom if they fail to understand a concept. These students relate asking for assistance as embarrassing and a weakness. As a result, they become unfocused and refuse to complete their work. This problem solving aides to reduce these distractions as students work collaboratively to complete the task rather than independently.

Other The students present within this Year 1 class have a variety of learning styles. These students are a mixture of visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. This problem solving task is beneficial for all students as they are able to be hands on, use both visual and auditory content to create their campaign. As these is a student-centred task, students can adjust the pedagogy to meet their own learning and teaching needs.
