How Do I Write My Story? We’re so excited you’re interested in writing and sharing how you became a Christian. We call this kind of story a testimony. Everyone has a different story and we’re excited to help you share yours.

Here are some questions to help you get started. Answer them honestly and openly. Don’t feel like your story has to be like your friend’s story. This is about when you asked Jesus to come into your life and how God has worked in your life since then.

1. What was my life like before I asked Jesus into it?Why did you think you needed to have Jesus in your life?

2. How did I commit my life to Christ?Who told you how to get to Heaven? Where were you? When did this happen?

3. What does it mean for me to have Jesus in my life? How is my life different now that I know Jesus is in my life? For example: Now I treat people differently, I have a better attitude, when I’m afraid I know God is always with me.

Putting It All TogetherTake the answers to your questions and write them below in story form so you can share your story from start to finish. Here’s an example of one (visit HighDesertChurch.com for more examples):

ExampleI learned about God from the Bible, from church and from my parents. I learned that God is the most important person in my life. My parents had taught me two things: love God and love others. I remember learning about Jesus dying on the cross at church and from my parents. He died for our sins.

One day, when I was five, I was thinking about the Bible and how much God did for us, and then I prayed. I asked Jesus to come into my heart. I remembered the ABC’s from church - Admit, Believe, and Choose. I had to admit that I was a sinner, believe that God was real and that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and he rose from the dead. That showed me that Jesus had POWER. Then I chose to follow God - to do God’s right stuff, like love God and love others.

Now I know that God is in me. This means that I have power to try to do what HE does, to love God and to love others, too. I try to love others a lot. I try to love some kids that are at my table in my classroom that are mean, and also some of the bad kids. I try to love my family, too. I used to be rude sometimes, and I still am sometimes, but now I know I can ask for help and ask for forgiveness. I know that God doesn’t remember my sins. Someday, I want to go to heaven with God!

Write your story here. Use another piece of paper if you need to.

What Do I Do After I’ve Written My Story? Now it’s time to share your story with your oikos (our word for family and friends). Here’s how you can SHARE your story:
