Dear Mrs. Theriault,

How was your summer? I hope it was fun. I know mine was. I am a little nervous about being in your class. I heard you were mean and scary and that you like to tie children to their chairs when they don’t listen. Is that true? I hope we have a nice class this year and that nobody picks on me. I want to have more friends.

You’re probably wondering about me too. Well, I’m going to be 11 years old soon. I can’t wait! I hope I get purple unicorn for my birthday. I’ve always wanted to ride one and I hear that unicorns will do your homework for you. I could definitely use that. I really don’t like homework because it’s hard for me to do at home. My younger brother always bugs me and I can’t concentrate. Plus I don’t really have anyone to help me, especially with math. I think it’s confusing, but so do my parents. Do you have any suggestions?

What do you want to say to the person you are writing to? We put what we want to say in the body of the letter. The body of the letter is in paragraph form. The first line of each paragraph is indented.

How was your summer? I hope it was fun. I know mine was. I am a little nervous about being in your class.
