How did you attract/address your audience?

Page 2: How did you attract/address your audience?

As our film is a psychological horror film with an age range, it has a niche audience. To attract our niche audience we used conventions that they would expect to see:• A protagonist and an antagonist.

• Lots of black, especially present through the antagonist’s clothing.

• Blood, seen around the antagonist’s mouth.

• Jump cuts, which are a very common editing technique in horror films.

• Dimmer Lighting – the lack of sun can be pathetic fallacy showing the audience that something bad is going to happen through the setting.

• Isolated woodland setting shows the audience that there is no escape for the protagonist and no one is around to help her.

• Stereotypical non-human antagonist. Our antagonist is a zombie.

• Red font on a black background as they contrast each other well and are common colours in horror films.

• Stereotypical themes of fear, serial killing, isolation, murder and death.

• Another way in which we attracted our audience is the protagonist and antagonist are both teenage female.

• This would attract the stereotypical male dominated audience that watched psychological horror films as it would interest them and they would want to see how a film genre that they like is presented through a female dominated film.

• It will also bring in more females to watch the film as it is refreshing to see a female protagonist and antagonist that has the power instead of the stereotypical male characters
