  • 1. How did you attract/address youraudience?ByJoshua Connolly

2. The main image that I have used isspecifically appealing to my target audience especiallybecause of the positioning and expression on his face. Iused a n image of a teenage band member playing thedrums with a blank arrogant expression, this helps givemy magazine a professional look and when I was doingmy questionnaire I found that those that completed it feltthat the image looked professional and they feltengaged as the model was looking directly at them. Thefact that there is only one image that fills the pagehelped to initially attract there attention. The use ofdrums as props helped my target audience understandthe genre of the magazine straight away as well.My mast head is bold with colours thatstand out and attract both men and women. The Redbackground with white writing is similar to that of theNME masthead this is a magazine which attracts asimilar audience to that of my magazine, this willtherefore attract the target audience that I want toappeal to. This shows in my questionnaire results aswell. My colour scheme also helps in appealingto my target audience as it is very neutral. The BlackWhite Blue and Red colour scheme attracts both menand women upon first appearances. The red is moreappealing to women as a lot of clothing and perfume isorientated around the colour red whereas the blue iscommonly more associated with men.The use of a pull quote works effectively inattracting my target audience as it makes them feel as ifthey are being directly addressed. The fact that its afeatured artist would attract a more specific audience as 3. To keep my magazine consistent Iused the same colour scheme helping mecontinue to appeal to my audience. This keeps theaudience engage as to much of an abstract colourscheme would confuse the readers. Also I haveused my masthead at the top to show that it is partof my magazine however I have made it less boldas the title that should stand out is contents. To keep in touch with the readers Ihave used images which are most realistic. Forinstance the image of the boy in the bottom righthand corner shows him looking directly at thereader this would mean that the reader feels apresence of the artist and feel a a relationship withhim. This is also shown with the pull quote whichtalks to the reader as well.To keep a continuing theme that myreaders will recognise I have included a sectionwhich talks about the monthly topics that are inevery issue. i,e quizzes and competitions. The sections on the left hand sidemake it easier for my readers to navigate thereway through my magazine with page numbershighlighted in red it clearly dictates articlewhereabouts. With clearly labelled headings it alsoclarifies what each section is talking about. 4. My double pagespread also continues thecolour scheme and makesuse of the page index withfollows that which it wasmarked at in the contentspage.with my audiencebeing indie rock whichstands for quite a diversemusic range I chose a simpleplain background which wouldappeal to many readers andnot instantly put them off.
