How Canada became an independent Nation

Canada was originally a colony of Great Britain in 1763

Great Britain had won control of Canada in the French and Indian War

After this, the colony expanded in population and size.

How Canada became an independent Nation Canada was divided into Upper and Lower Canada

“Upper Canada” was the English Section know as Ontario.

“Lower Canada” was the French Section known as Quebec now

By the mid-1860s, Canada wanted to be united into one country.

America Act of 1867” put together Upper and lower Canada into one nation.

The New constitution called the new separate territory called the “Dominion of Canada.”

allowed to have it’s own parliament and Prime Minister.

However, they were not allowed to make treaties with other countries, They had to use the British military. The Monarch would also be the same as the British monarch (King or Queen).
