How big is the United States? What is the biggest mountain? What are the biggest cities? What are some famous sightseeing spots? The USA is the 3 rd largest country in the world in size AND population It takes 5 hours to fly from LA to NY (Kumamoto-Hokkaido= 2 Hours) Biggest mountain: Mauna Kea, HI Highest mountain: Mt. McKinley, AK Biggest lakes: Great Lakes (HOMES) Longest river: Missouri Biggest river system: Mississippi-Missouri-Ohio Each State has several counties, and each county may have several cities. Counties are translated as in Japanese, but they are different. This map shows the counties of my home state California. Los Angeles City is in Los Angeles County, and Disneyland is in Orange County.California Every state has a capital, BUT State capitals are often not the biggest cities in the State. Sacramento, the capital of California, is #6 in population. How many of the 10 biggest cities in the US can you name? Can you put them in the right order?10 biggest cities in the US My home town Los Angeles has very famous places! (Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, UCLA, Rodeo Drive...) So does New York City! (Statue of Liberty, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Central Park, Empire State Building...) And dont forget Washington D.C.! (White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, Smithsonian Institute...) Next week you will need to write the names or abbreviations of each State on your States test. You will also need to write and locate ten cities (they do not have to be capitals) and/or sightseeing spots. States test Good luck, and study hard. See you next week!
