Stage 1 : the egg The butterfly life cycle starts with an egg. It lays it’s egg on the underside of a leaf.

Stage 2 :the larva. The egg hatches and a larva comes out. The larva eats plant leaves to grow. The butterfly larva is called caterpillar.

Stage 3: the pupa . The caterpillar forms a hard cover around
itself. In this stage the butterfly is inactive (not
moving ) It is now called Pupa.

Stage 4 :the Adult butterfly.
The new butterfly is formed inside the pupa.
The butterfly comes out of the pupa and waits for nearly half an hour till it’s wings becomes strong.
The Adult butterfly can now fly and go lay eggs again to
start another lifecycle.
