1. Come in to the library and register: • complete a registration card • make your name “note” for the music staff banner • pick up a reading log, “Read to the Rhythm” pencil, and the Summer Reading Club program
2. Start reading! This year, there are four age groups. Each group has weekly reading goals:
3. Visit the library each week, Monday through Saturday, after you’ve reached your weekly goal.
4. Show your reading log to the staff and get your stickers*.
5. Mark the number of books you’ve read on the progress chart. How many books will we read this year? Last year it was 23,924. Can we reach 25,000?
6. Pick up your weekly prize*.
7. Enter the weekly drawing by writing your name and phone number on a ticket. Five names in each level will be drawn on Saturday evening and the winners will be contacted by phone on the following Monday.
8. On the eighth week, if you’ve read your weekly book requirements, you’ll receive your free book, book bag, and bookmark, and another
chance to win a weekly prize! If you’re not in town during the eighth week, you’ll still be able to pick up your book, bag
and bookmark through the end of August.

Jack and the Beanstalk: The Puppet Musical
Move to the rhythm of original songs and the classic hero’s tale
of friendship, forgiveness and following dreams. This interactive show with live singing and fun, and catchy songs in many styles will have you moving to the rhythm!
6. July 29Reading, Writing and Rhythm with Dan CrowEmmy-nominated songsmith, Dan Crow will delight you with hilarious songs and stories about the joys of reading.
7. August 5Arty Loon – Symphonic SorceryGo on a magical musical adventure with Arty Loon.
He’ll show you that music is everywhere. Musical volunteers
will play songs on homemade instruments, then the sound will magically
disappear and reappear in classic Arty Loon Style.
8. August 12Grand Finale with Tony DanielsLaugh out loud at Tony’s antics and magic tricks. You may even be selected to assist him. Everyone will be able to meet his magic rabbit, Bunnicula.
1. June 24One World Rhythm – Percussion MusicBecome part of the show – everyone plays percussion instruments. Music and rhythm activities are all part of the fun. Sing, laugh and drum as you celebrate to the rhythm of One!
2. July 1Pacifi c Animal ProductionsWith a Learning Safari “Songs of the Wild”, you can hear the songs of nature everywhere. From the rainforests, mountains and deserts, enjoy the songs of the wild.
3. July 8Joseph Peck MusicTake a musical trip to the Caribbean as Joseph Peck introduces you to his steel drums. Participate in a Caribbean drum circle!
4. July 15African Dance Rhythms with Teresa SmithDance with Teresa as she explores the many cultural differences in musical movement and styles of African dance. Everyone will participate because in African dance, even the spectators are part of the performance!
Fridays: Movie Day2:00 to 4:00 p.m.Cool off in the afternoon with a delightful family movie. Our lineup includes My Fair Lady, High School Musical 2, The Emperor’s New Groove, Frozen, Charlotte’s Web, The Music Man, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and The Princess and the Frog – all served up with free popcorn!
Friday program will be held in the Community Room.
Special StorytimesLoving All AnimalsThursday, June 25, 10:00 a.m.Birds make music and rhythm! Come meet four or fi ve live, spectacular birds. If we’re lucky, they’ll sing for us, too. You will get to hold a bird for a photo. All ages are welcome!
Let’s Make Some Music!Thursday, July 23, 10:00 a.m.Come and make music with us! We’ll sing some old favorites and learn some new
songs, too. All ages are welcome.
Mother Goose Thursday, August 13, 10:00 a.m. We always enjoy Mother Goose’s summer
visits. Enjoy her gentle telling of rhymes followed by a craft. All ages welcome.
Mondays: Kids’ Book Discussion Group
4:00 to 5:00 p.m.Kids between the ages of nine and twelve meet to discuss a different
book each week. Register at the Children’s Desk and pick up a copy of the weekly book.
Program will be held in the Children’s Room.
Tuesdays: Game Day2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Come play board games, card games, Bingo, science-based games, and iPad apps. Have fun and make some new friends!
