Hoverboard (http://www.hoverboard.io/) is an easy-to-use portfolio design system made especiallyfor people who make things: like teachers sometimes do!

Fill in the fields with your personal information and then click on the [Create Your Account] button.

Creating Your Hoverboard "Persona"

You will be forwarded to a page where you will be able to enter information about yourself on yourportfolio. In the first box, enter your name.

I recommend giving yourself a "tagline," something short and zippy that describes you well andwould be appealing to someone who may consider your application to the Teacher Educationmajor, or someone considering hiring you as a teacher.

Enter a few sentences that describe you and your goals for yourself as a teacher. I alsorecommend that you include a quote about teaching, education, learning, or school.

Enter a few skills that you have, separated by commas (,). DO NOT USE SEMICOLONS! You canuse the attributes you highlighted for yourself in your Living Document Part 3, or you can decideon different skills.

Pick a name for your "blog," which is going to be where you put excerpts from your LivingDocuments.

Now you are ready to save. Uncheck "Do you want to get email notifications?" (unless you wantto) and then click on the [Save Changes] button.

You will get a confirmation that your information has been saved. An email has been sent to youas well. Check your email and click on the confirmation link in order to complete the process.

Setting Up Your Hoverboard Header Image

After you click on the confirmation link in your email, you will see your Hoverboard page set todefault. Click on the menu button which looks like three parallel horizontal lines (1) and then clickon the Settings link (2), which will take you to the Settings page.

Click on the [UPLOAD A HEADER IMAGE] button on the Settings page. You can choose anyimage that you have downloaded, such as from a Flickr Creative Commons search. You can usean image editor such as Microsoft Paint to crop the image to the "ideal size" of 1450 pixels wide by440 pixels high. Once the image uploads, you will be returned to your Hoverboard main page.

Enter in the details into the appropriate boxes, including a link. The tagline should provide aconcise and informative summary of what the project is. In the "Tell us about your project," makesure to include the NETS-T standard that it supports as well as a short description of HOW itsupports it, including a short synopsis of the class activity (or your activity) that allowed you tocreate it.

Click on the [Upload A Project Image] button to upload a representative screenshot of your project. The 600x380 required size will not be large enough to show your entire project, so make sure youchoose a good representation of your project when you crop it.

See http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows for step-by-stepinstructions on how to take a screenshot of your project and then crop it to the 600 pixels wide and380 pixels high size that you need with Windows Paint.

See http://www.wikihow.com/Crop-an-Image-with-Microsoft-Paint for step-by-step instructions onhow to crop an image with Windows Paint.

Add tags to your project. One tag should be the technology that you used to create it (e.g., glog, voicethread, screenchomp, webquest, UDL BookBuilder, etc.) and another tag should be theNETS-T standard that you are connecting to.

When you are ready, click the [Add Your Project] button to save your project.

You will see a preview of your project. This is what it will look like when someone clicks on thisproject's button from your main screen. If you are satisfied with it, return to your main screen.

On your main screen, you will see the project you just added under the "Projects" heading.

You will notice that Hoverboard places your projects in alphabetical order on your main page.

Add a "Job Role" (optional, although recommended)

If you have ever had a tutoring, teaching assistant, or camp job (paid or not), you can add it toyour portfolio. This is not a resume, so I would only put jobs that connect directly with educationand teaching on this page. You can also add your Early Field Experiences here as well if youwould like. Just click on the "Add a Job Role" link.

Fill in the boxes with the appropriate information. Make sure you fill out the approximate Start andEnd Dates, as Hoverboard will use this information to put your jobs in the correct order with themost recent job on top. If you are currently working in this role, check the "Is this your current jobrole?" box. When you are ready, click the [Add Your Job Role] button.

On your main page, you will see your job role show up on your Timeline.

If you add more than one Job Role, you will see that Hoverboard places the most recent Job Roleat the top of your list and puts them in chronological order.

It is always a good idea to look over your work before you hand it in and to see it as a visitor wouldsee it. Copy the link to your main page, which should be in the format of "http://hoverboard.io/USERNAME" (USERNAME=the username you chose). This is also the URL that you will use tosubmit to TaskStream.

Click on the menu button (1) and the click on the [Sign Out] button (2) to sign out. Paste the link toyour Hoverboard page back into your browser and hit the [Enter] key.
