Minimum $10.00 Charge Per Household
Peters Township reserves the right to charge for quantities greater than 10 gallons.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collec-tion is a Township sponsored and funded event to remove dangerous chemicals from Peters Township households—an opportunity for residents to rid their homes and garages of dangerous “hard to get rid of” chemicals, products, etc.
The HHWC event will be held on one day only, Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Any Peters Town-ship resident (Proof of ID required) may participate; however small businesses and institutions that produce hazardous waste as part of their regular business operation will NOT be allowed to participate in the Collection Day.
Materials NOT Accepted:
Ammunition, Appliances, Drugs, Compressed Gas, Radioactive Materials, Smoke Detectors, Light Ballasts Explosives or Flares, Farm quan-tity pesticides, Leaking containers, Industrial or Commercial Waste, Large Propane Tanks, Bulk Waste, Medical Waste, Infectious or Biohazard Waste, Large Gas Cylinders, Transformers, Ma-terials containing Asbestos, and Tires.
To participate, survey your home—particularly your kitchen, bathroom, garage, basement, workshop, etc. Take an inventory of chemicals and products that are old, outdated, leaking, outlawed, unwanted, etc. Place those materials and containers in plastic bags and boxes to prevent spillage and leakage.
Transport your household hazardous waste to the public works complex. Once you arrive, you will fill out a survey form while qualified personnel inventory and remove the material from your vehicle.
All waste materials collected will be handled in the most environmentally conscience fashion possible. Options include reuse, recycling, reclamation, incineration or land filling.
WHERE IS THE EVENT LOCATED?
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Any Peters Township resident who has hazardous materials in their home and would like to properly dispose of them. WHAT MATERIALS ARE ACCEPTED? Products that contain materials that are ignitable, corrosive, reactive or toxic (see list for specific items). Call 724-941-4180 if you have questions regarding specific items.
