Your breath is the key factor in Vinyasa, as each movement is coordinated with an inhale or an exhale. Harnessing the breath with movement creates endurance in the body and a sense of meditation in the mind. All-level classes are appropriate for beginners through advanced students to practice together. During the class, instructions are offered that are appropriate for where students are in their personal practice. Kristen Nussbaum, a 200-hour certified yoga instructor, will lead this 60-minute class each Tuesday. No class on December 3, 24, and 31. November’s full moon is referred to as the Beaver Moon. Historically, November is the month to set beaver traps before swamps freeze to ensure a supply of warm fur during the winter. In November’s Seasonal Painting class, participants will paint a beautiful full moon that embodies the transition from fall to winter. Kristin Lorson will guide students of all levels in bringing their own interpretation of the Beaver Moon to life. All supplies are provided in this class; must be 12 years or older, unless accompanied by an adult

Knitting for BeginnersAmy Strunk, Instructor

Want to improve your fine motor skills, lower your blood pressure, and learn a new skill all at the same time? Amy Strunk, from The J.M. Smucker Company, is ready to teach you how to do all of those things through knitting! Over the course of two classes, you’ll learn the foundations of knitting: casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and binding off. The class will cover some basics on choosing knitting supplies and reading patterns. Participants will receive a pair of knitting needles and yarn to make a cozy scarf just in time for winter.

Thanksgiving FlowersTom Poulson, Instructor

Tom Poulson, owner of The Bouquet Shop, will help participants create a beautiful flower arrangement perfect for Thanksgiving get-togethers. Participants will learn how to create visually impactful flower arrangements through framing, balance, floaters, and focal points. Participants leave the class with a floral arrangement, and will gain the skills and knowledge to continue creating their own displays in the future.

It is getting to be that time of year when everyone seems to have a cough, a sore throat, or a runny nose. Come learn how to bolster the body’s immune system for the winter months through food, botanical medicine, and specific nutrients. Dr. Liz from Allium Naturopathic Health will go over how you can keep yourself and your family happy and healthy in the inevitable cold months. This hands-on class allows participants to sample immune-boosting ingredients.

Join Ali Sprang of Joyful Journey Calligraphy for an introductory hand-lettering class. Ali will teach participants every letter of the alphabet as well as flourishing techniques and decorative lettering styles. This hands-on learning experience will give participants the foundation they need to create beautiful artwork for everyday use or special occasions. All materials are included in the cost of this class and no experience is required. Participants will take home a brush pen, lettering workbook, paint pen, and canvas they create during the class. Come prepared with a three-to-five-word quote to letter on a canvas.

Masquerade DollsJanice Gallagher, Instructor

Get into the Halloween spirit by making a masquerade doll with Janice Gallagher. Participants will use permanent alcohol ink markers to create tie-dye designs on a cotton cloth doll. Batik scraps, found objects, yarn, and ribbon will be available for costumes. Costumes can be sewn on or applied using hot glue. Janice is a mixed media artist who has lived in Wooster for the past 45 years. Her work has won awards throughout Ohio and neighboring states. The dolls provided in this class are handmade by Janice herself. Supplies included in class cost; must be 12 years or older, unless accompanied by an adult.

Introductory ElectronicsSchantz MakerSpace, Instructor

Join Schantz MakerSpace for an introductory electronics class! Students will learn basic coding as they assemble an Arduino kit. Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It’s intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. This class can be enjoyed by people of all ages; however, a parent or guardian is required for participants aged 14 and younger. Each participant/team will get to take their Arduino home with them to continue tinkering and learning. A laptop is required for each participant/team.

What to do when there’s no school? Come to Slime Day! Slime is a sensory adventure for kids of all ages, and this workshop is open to everyone. Stop by Heartland Point and create your own Halloween slime to take home. This step-by-step day will be a blast for you and your kids. This class is for ages 15 and older, unless accompanied by an adult. Cost includes two slime make-and-takes. This event requires registering for a specific time slot within the two-hour window; call 330-682-0200 to reserve your time slot. These time slots allow for fewer lines and more fun!
