Two flags flying
• The local Congress passed a law in July 2010, allowing both the French flag and the flag of Kanaky to fly together outside public buildings such as city halls, government offices and even the French High Commission.

Quelle est la fonction d’un drapeau ?
![Page 15: Hot off the Pole: Bringing the Francophone World to Your](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012514/618d8dd664babc52e278cc94/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)

![Page 38: Hot off the Pole: Bringing the Francophone World to Your](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012514/618d8dd664babc52e278cc94/html5/thumbnails/38.jpg)
![Page 39: Hot off the Pole: Bringing the Francophone World to Your](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012514/618d8dd664babc52e278cc94/html5/thumbnails/39.jpg)
Le vert
• La couleur verte est la
couleur de la terre, de notre
planète. C’est la couleur du
règne végétal et des eaux
vives, elle, représente « les
verts pâturages », la
nourriture, la paysannerie,
le monde rural. C’est la
couleur de l’éveil de la
nature, de l’éveil de la vie,
de l’espérance, des
remèdes. C’est l’emblème
du salut.
![Page 40: Hot off the Pole: Bringing the Francophone World to Your](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012514/618d8dd664babc52e278cc94/html5/thumbnails/40.jpg)
Le cercle jaune
• Par rapport à l’occident,
le pays kanak fait partie
des pays du soleil levant.
Le cercle central jaune
d’or signifie que les
rayons de l’aurore
transforment le pays
kanak en île de lumière.
![Page 41: Hot off the Pole: Bringing the Francophone World to Your](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012514/618d8dd664babc52e278cc94/html5/thumbnails/41.jpg)
La flêche faîtière noire
• La flèche faitière est celle
de la grande case. Elle
est le symbole de
l’édification de la société
kanak car elle symbolise
la continuité entre les
ancêtres et le monde
d’aujourd’hui.
