Hospitality

Founded in 1997, PRAXIS3 is an innovative, Atlanta-based architectural and multidisciplinary design firm whose mission is to foster design excellence while providing client-responsive solutions. Deploying the talents of our multi-disciplinary teams, PRAXIS3 tackles each project as an exploration of ideas in the creative process, producing singular, project-specific designs for a wide variety of building types, programs, and brands.

The firm broadly specializes in automotive, branding, civic, cultural, higher education, financial, hospitality, mixed-use, and workplace project designs throughout the United States. PRAXIS3’s comprehensive approach to designing projects includes extensive research, in which its designers engage in direct interactive sessions with clients and users, asking questions and listening carefully to client input. The Principals of the firm believe that a broad range of design can be interrelated, and that work in several building types and programs strengthens abilities in all, providing for a diversity of perspective in practice not usually found in single-discipline or overly specialized firms. Ultimately, the PRAXIS3 process ensures that projects will meet the client’s creative, functional and financial goals.

Brand values are the compass that points to the true North of our business's success; which means, they’re pretty darn important.

PRAXIS3 has been recognized, for the sixth year in a row, as one of only 64 architecture and engineering firms nationwide to

receive this prestigious award. PSMJ is the world’s leading authority on the effective management of AEC firms. PSMJ Circle of Excellence is designed to highlight firms that are successfully managed, based on 13 key performance metrics that demonstrate outstanding achievement in

profitability, staff growth, cash flow, productivity, business development, overhead management and turnover.

PRAXIS3 designs spaces for living and working. We believe that form follows human need. Our design approach measures the performance of people, not space: our emphasis is on creativity, productivity, learning, collaboration, and privacy. Hitting the mark means designing not just for visual impact, but also for well-being, flexibility, and ease of use. Our designers work collaboratively and strategically to deliver innovation, quality, and sustainable performance. We provide this promise through the following services:

Our clients come from a wide range of sectors, cultures, and backgrounds. Together, we have achieved outstanding design through a highly collaborative, creative working method. Our buildings and spaces make contributions to the built environment that go beyond their physical footprint. Below are just a few major brands / clients that have trusted us to integrate their message and goals into the built environment.

Parkway 75 Sheraton Hotel

Atlanta, GA

This 225-room hotel and conference center is the anchor of the Parkway 75 Corporate Campus in north Atlanta. Its design led the way toward integrating high-tech business services with luxury hospitality. Ballrooms, conference rooms, and meeting facilities have incorporated the latest in communications technologies while maintaining a warmth and comfort for private functions. Prominently visible along Interstate 75, the hotel’s distinctive silhouette and reflective glass curtainwall have become a memorable landmark at this suburban gateway into Atlanta. Originally built and operated as a Sheraton, this hotel is now the latest acquisition in the growing family of Wyndham Garden Hotels. This project was executed by Stuart Romm while a partner at Whatley + Romm Architects.

Radisson Suite Hotel

Huntsville, AL

The Radisson Suite Hotel is situated along a commercial strip in Huntsville, Alabama, and represented a new hybrid prototype for an “all-suite” hotel concept surrounding a garden courtyard. In addition to innovating a functionally new hospitality model, the challenge was to reconcile the demands of its traditional design overlay district with a modern update of the regional vernacular. By carefully pushing the limits of hotel comparables, past and current, a recombination has been sought in which the requirement for imageability is responded to within a taut, energy-efficient building envelope. This project was executed under PRAXIS3’s predecessor firm of Romm + Pearsall / Architects.

This ambitious mixed-use redevelopment, spearheaded by Big Bethel AME Church’s, occupies a full city block of Atlanta’s revered Martin Luther King, Jr. Landmark District. Working closely with community leaders and the Atlanta Urban Design Coalition, the design team’s solution strikes a positive balance of historic preservation of existing retail buildings and economic viability with the new residential, office and retail components. For successfully achieving these objectives, the project was recently recognized with the AIA’s South Atlantic Region 2009 Honor Award for Design Excellence. The project includes 160 condominium units, 30,000 SF of retail, and a 6-level, 400-car internal parking deck with secure access for its residents.

Renaissance Walk at Sweet Auburn

Atlanta, GA

This 130 unit mixed-use project will also feature 12,000 SF of retail, restaurant and office space at street level. Occupying a prominent corner in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta, the building will be among the largest to be developed in the Memorial Drive corridor to date. Praxis3 has worked closely with the developer from the project’s conceptual inception, developing optimal responses to the project site, program and pro forma. Working closely with owners to understand project goals is key to Praxis3’s design process and paramount to producing excellent buildings that meet all of the owner’s objectives, aesthetic and financial.

The George

Atlanta, GA

PRAXIS3 is excited to be working with developer Rea Ventures on the Madison Reynoldstown project! In partnership with the Atlanta Beltline, Atlanta Housing, Invest Atlanta, and others, this important development includes 116 units of affordable housing on the Beltline along with retail space along Memorial Drive and Beltline-facing artist studios.

Praxis3 partnered with JW Robinson to explore a multi-project development in downtown Atlanta with the goal of creating a vibrant mixed-use district within a walking radius of the New Mercedes Benz Stadium and Centennial Olympic Park. This involved replacing an existing surface parking lot with structured parking and podium support for a spectrum of mixed-use functions above. The project seeks to leverage the increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic caused by the resurgence in downtown investment while remaining authentic to the character and culture of the neighborhood. The master plan included concepts for a 150-key hotel, office building, multi-family apartments, and amenity spaces. The proposal named “The Platform” took design inspiration from the adjacent rail yard as well as the historic connection to Norfolk Southern original Headquarters building. The hotel proposed utilizing prefabricated construction methods as well as the adaptive re-use of shipping containers to create a modular approach to achieve an innovative design while balancing the need to tie the site to historical context.

12th Street Coffee

Atlanta, GA

Big things sometimes come in small packages and this café demands a big impact with a small footprint. Located near Atlanta’s largest outdoor destination, Piedmont Park, this café required careful design consideration on multiple fronts. Providing service to the residents in the apartments above as well as the pedestrians visiting the park, the café needs a unique identity that still pays homage to its iconic local surroundings. It also needs the ability to seamlessly flow out into the street-life, attracting local foot traffic, while still functioning effectively in a tighter, enclosed space through unfavorable weather conditions. It’s an invitation for a drink with a side of drama so the choice is yours to stay for a while or keep on moving through the city that provides the original inspiration.

Sited on 25 acres, this new 175,000 square foot Lexus dealership is strategically situated on “Luxury Lane” which is a prominent area for luxury car brands along Interstate-4 in Orlando, Florida. The traffic count traveling this corridor is over 300,000 vehicles per day, prompting PRAXIS3 to design a grand architectural statement with this new facility for Lexus. This building is about customer convenience. It is designed to be convenient for purchasing, service, and comfort. The branded facility will feature a two-story showroom with multiple lounge seating arrangements, a café, entertainment area, and an outdoor lot along I-4 that showcases Lexus vehicles. PRAXIS3 also incorporated quiet lounges for visitors to have personal space, as well as open community lounges for those who want to engage conversation. PRAXIS3 provides a full-service design approach of architecture, interior design, and environmental graphics. This allows a collaborative integration of form, function, finishes, and storytelling all under one roof.

The Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham store is our third Mercedes-Benz project completed for Dream Motor Group. The flagship store gains much importance due to its proximity to the Mercedes-Benz factory just west of the city. All executives and VIP’s visiting the city will recognize this store as the face of MB’s retail sales and service. The owner secured one of the most dominant sites in Birmingham providing the store with great visibility and impressive views from within the showroom. The design of the project needed to address the fact that the building essentially had two important public faces: one facing the interstate and the other facing the main public entry route. The design incorporated the use of a car tower at the intersection of these two faces; creating both a focal point which could be seen from both the interstate and the public entry road. To enhance the impact of this element a series of water features were placed on the hill just below the tower element. Through the powerful setting and the impactful design, the store is recognized as one of the most impressive Mercedes-Benz facilities in North America.
