As you can see in the diagram below, the digital ecosystem can be very complex and there are many differentconfigurations possible. Many chains are struggling today with manually keying in menu data in multiple systems. To addadditional complexity, most vendors check different boxes below so there are some that aim to resolve the complexity bybecoming a one-stop shop and others who aim to be the best of breed for a specific box and integrate with everyone.There’s also the question of who provides the UX (app or web). In some cases the loyalty provider builds it, in others theorder engine builds it, and in others an app/web dev shop builds it. The right approach will be different for each chainbased on their priorities, funding, and internal capabilities.
Order MarketplacesMany chains have the dreaded wallof tablets to receive orders from theOrder Marketplaces and manuallykey them into their POS. Vendors areracing to partner and integrate withleading order marketplaces to solvethis problem for their customers.This will eliminate the manualintegration as well as enable syncingmenu data to ensure the order canbe fulfilled when thecustomer/delivery carrier arrives topick it up.
Delivery MarketplacesChains are announcing partnershipswith delivery marketplaces regularlyto expand their customer base.Quality and coverage is the primaryfocus in selecting ordermarketplaces. There is also anopportunity for digital vendors toautomatically select from multipledelivery carriers on a per-order basisbased on pre-defined criteria.Integration with digital vendors willenable an improved guestexperience by providing statusupdates back to the customer.
