State Maximum Allotted 5 minutes PERFORMANCE STEPS TEST 1 RETEST 2 RETEST 3 Safely performs the following steps: P F P F P F Cleans couplings using water and brush (soapy water if necessary). Inspects couplings on hose ensuring that swivels operate and threads are not damaged. Demonstrates inspecting and replacing hose coupling gasket if necessary. Cleans hose jacket using brooms, brushes, clear water, and soap for areas of heavy contamination. Inspects hose jacket ensuring there are no defects or damage (holes, tears, or chemicals / fuel). If hose is found to be defective, marks out of service and records. Dries hose using hose tower, drying rack, or other means (keeps out of direct sunlight and high heat devices for drying). Firefighter must have at least 70% pass mark for each skill and perform all critical points (5/7 required). The charter training program may demonstrate and / or simulate this skill. Candidate Instruction
