Assessment of eligibility for academically gifted programs is organized into three dimensions:

A.Reasoning Abilities (aptitude)B.High Achievement

1. Meet the standard for a composite aptitude score (96th percentile or higher)2. Meet the standard in two of the three dimensions

APTITUDE --93rd national age percentile or higher on verbal, nonverbal, quantitative, or total portion of CogAT

ACHIEVEMENT -- 94th national percentile or higher on fall 2014 or spring 2015 reading and/or math MAP or have the following qualifying scores on 2014 PASS

PERFORMANCE --STAR Performance Task Assessment (grades 2-5) or end-of-year grade point average (grades 5-11)

3. Previously state identified gifted and talented in another state

Want to know why or how something is so? Like solving problems or puzzles, often in resourceful or

ingenious ways? Like metaphors and abstract ideas? Talk a lot and love debating issues? Show unusual ability or fascination with one field of

interest? Get answers correct but find it difficult to tell you how? Seem interested and concerned about social and political

issues? Learn quickly with experience? Seem bored and often have nothing to do?

Referrals for the academically gifted and talented program will be accepted through September 26, 2014.

As a teacher, inform your guidance counselor or school G/T contact person if you wish to refer a student for screening/testing.
