UNITS OR PARTS IN FREQUENT .DEMAND "I'/}'
Certain customers find it useful to know which units and parts are common to manyivehicles, Or/arefitted to the more popular cars. In each section, under the heading of VewcleApplicationReference, all units are grouped for easy reference. In addition, it can be seen that certain parts llrecommon to many units by scanning the horizontal tabulations in the Detailed Spare Parts of eachsection. " .SUPERSESSION CHART FOR UNITS AND PARTSIt will be appreciated that many of the older units and components are no longer available, andendeavour is made to replace them with more modern and improved types. It should, perhaps, emphasised that the components selected will always satisfactorily replace those originally fitted.
INTERCHANGEABILITY OF UNITSPrior to the introduction of the five-figure numbering system all units bore an individual six-figurenumber, which gave no indication of possible interchangeability. The five-figure system, with its use of suffix letters, clearly shows that all units bearing the same basicnumber are interchangeable as a complete unit; e.g. Distributor 40283A, 40283B, 40283D, etc., whilsthaving internal modifications, are interchangeable as complete units.
