HORN RECITAL TO BE HELD AT UD

DAYTON, Ohio, October 15, 1986--Richard Chenoweth, professor of horn at

the University of Dayton, will give a horn recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October

28, in Kennedy Union Boll Theatre on the UD campus.

Chenoweth, who is co-principal horn with the Dayton Philharmonic

Orchestra (DPO) and second horn with the Santa Fe Opera, will perform music

for the natural (hand) horn as well as music for the modern instrument.

The program, which will include works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Franz

Strauss, and Vincent Persichetti, will feature a world premiere of a piece for

horn and string quartet by Steve Winteregg, who is tubist with the DPO Brass

Quintet and a doctoral candidate in composition at Ohio State University.

Winteregg's compositions have won several international contests, including

the Horn Society's Composition Contest, and awards from The American Society

of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).

Chenoweth will be assisted in his performance by members of the Dayton

Philharmonic, including concertina star Peter Ciaschini, Phillip Magnuson, Nan

Shuffle, Melia Watrous, and Joan Seymour. Other assisting artists include

Julane Rodgers, on the harpsichord; Donna Loewy, on the piano; and Marianne

Chenoweth on the baroque flute.
