Of note: By Y-DNA testing of the descendants of Hope Hull (the younger), he is descended from the Adams family of Somerset County, Maryland. While it was originally thought that Hope Hull senior was the son of Hannah, wife of Daniel Hull, it appears that he was the son of Sarah Guy (later) Hull, wife of Edward Hull. Recorded from Somerset County Judicial Records November Court of Somerset County, 1730 27 His Lordship @ Sarah Hull al. s Davis We of the Grand Jury for the body of Somerset County do present Sarah Hull alias Davis for bearing of a bastard Child in Coventry parish about the first of August Last past Capell king foreman Thereupon Command was Given to the Sherr of Somerset County that he Should take the Said Sarah Hull alias Davis if &. c to answer &. c and afterwards in the Same Court Came here the Said Sarah Hull alias Davis in her proper person and forthwith of the premisses in the presentm. t afd Specified above upon her Imposed being asked how She would acquitt herselfe thereof the Same Sarah Hull al. s Davis says that She Cannot Gainsay but that She is Guilty of the premisses afd in the presentm t November Court 1730 28 aforesaid above Specified and makes Oath that a Certain Hope Adames is the begetter of the Child She Stands presented for and is willing to pay her fine for the fact aforesaid

                   Therefore it is Considered that the aforesaid Sarah Hull alias Davis pay to his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord Proprietary thirty Shillings Currant mony for her fine for the fact afd in the presentm.t aforesaid Continued whereof She is Convict and that the Same Sarah Hull al.s Davis be taken to satisfie ye his Said Lordship of the fine afd &.c  whereupon It's ordered by the Court that the Said Sarah Hull al.s Davis give Security for the payment of the fine afd and all the Officers their fees due by occasion of the premises afd   Thereupon a Certain Edward Hull present here in Court undertakes for the said Sarah Hull al.s Davis for to pay ye fine aforesaid and all the Officers their Fees due by means of the premises afd &c

Adams                                     Thereupon Command was Given to the Sherr of Somerset County that he should take ye Said Hope Adams If &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the same Hope Adams Came hereinto Court in his proper person and being by the Sherrif set to the bar is thereupon Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premises afd in manner and form above upon him Imposed says that he Cannot Gainsay the but that he is guilty of the premissesafd in the presentment afd above Specified and is willing to pay his fine for the fact afd &c

                      Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid Hope Adams pay unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary for his fine by the Court hereupon him Imposed by Occasion of the premisses aforesaid whereof in form afd he is Convict thirty Shillings and that the same Hope Adams be taken to satisfie the Said Lord Proprietary of the fine aforesaid thereupon it is ordered by the Court here that the afd Hope Adams Give Security to pay the fine afd and the Severall Officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd thereupona Certain Philip Adams present herein Court undertakes for the Said Hope Adams to pay the fine aforesaid & the Severall Officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses aforesaid &c

It is further ordered by the Court here that the afd Hope Adams Give Good Securityto Save and keep Harmless Somerset County for the time being from all Costs Charges and troubles whatsoever for or by Reason of the birth maintenance Nourishment and bringing up of the afd Bastard Child begott of the afd Sarah Hull alis Davis &c                                           

Whereupon the Said Hope Adams with Philip Adams his Security both present herein Court acknowledged themselves to Owe and Stand Indebted unto his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord proprietary in ten pounds Sterling Each of their Goods and Chattells Lands or tenementsseperately to be made and Levied for the Use of Somerset County if default be made in the Condition hereunder written  

The Condition of the above Recognizance is Such that if the above bounden Hope Adams his heirs Executors or administrators or any of them do and Shall from time to time and at all timeshereafter acquitt discharge & save harmless the Justices of Somerset County & their Successors for the time being as also ye Inhabitants of the Said County from all Costs Charges and troubles whatsoever for or by reason of ye birth maintenance nourishing and bringing up of the afd Child & of and from all other Suits Charges troubles & demands whatsoever touching or Concerning ye

Same then ye above Obligation to be void otherwise &c
