I met with the HEA Presidents yesterday and we discussed the possibility of modifying the school calendar to provide additional days for teacher training. The Commissioner of Education has stated districts can use three teaching days as professional development days. We are proposing to add these days to the beginning of the school year. This would make September 1st the first day of school for students.
Additional Considerations ■ Recess ■ Physical Education ■ Social well-being of students and staff ■ Sports & Extra-Curricular Activities ■ New Morning Before & After School Program ■ Visitors ■ Response to Outbreak ■ Instructional considerations to address gaps in learning ■ Training for students/families
